Hello, this isn't a 'problem' as such, but more of a little annoyance that I can't figure out. When clicking on the blue face Finder icon in the Dock, a window appears showing the 'Home' thing as normal, with Macintosh HD on the side Like this: picasaweb.google.co.uk/lh/photo/_l9jVtgZ8m-JfM5gHLKKaw?authkey=Gv1sRgCKHYtqvosLTh0wE&feat=directlinkBut the bit that is selected on the sidebar just says 'alexrichings' I want it to say 'Alex Richings'. I tried to right click and get info but I can't change it from there either, or from the Users section in System Preferences.

That all looks too dangerous for me. I prefer to not tinker with stuff I don't know how to use. That also includes the Terminal. An old Windows habit. Just like me having antivirus software on my Mac.

iAntiVirus is good. It just sits in the Menu bar at the top and updates itself every so often and as far as I know it seems OK. I just can't bring myself to take it off, though. I'll just laugh at you all when you get stricken down by something pathetic, just like the aliens in War of the Worlds.
Of course, that's never gonna happen.

It is what it does behind the scenes that I worry about. I don't trust AV. You won't laugh if I get hit by a nasty any more than I will if you AV screws up your next update of OS X. We both make our choices and hope for the best. At the moment there are no viruses for OS X. Long may that continue, though of course it may change one day. If one day it does happen I am counting of Apple to sort it out via a security update. Time will tell. Cat
