AppleTV rocks on! Version 3.0 as free update « Thread Started on Oct 30, 2009, 2:11pm »
As we know, Apple didn't merge the AppleTV into the refreshed MacMini, which still has no HDMI output.
Instead,Apple waited couple more weeks and then unleashed AppleTV 3.0!
This free update (in conjunction with iTunes 9.02) supports new functionality like Genius mixes and iTunes LP in the Music section, Faces&Places in the Photo section, Extras in the Movie section, and internet radio in the new Internet section.
It also has a new user interface, which may grow on me but I'll need to get used to it first. The benefit is supposed to be quicker and more direct access to yet-to-be-viewed/yet-to-be-heard items in your local library, but it also takes every commercial opportunity to feature Store items too.
One small improvement I like a lot is that a playing song will continue to play even if you start browsing within other sections, such as Movies, Podcasts, etc. It will only stop playing when you actually select something else to play in its place (e.g. a movie or a podcast etc.)
