Just wondered if anyone was using it and what they thought of it www.songbirdnest.com/It's a web browser and media player mash up, although it works quite well I don't think it's for me at the moment, i'm too used to firefox and like ff's add-ons - not many available for songbird yet. Looking good though.

I've used Songbird on and off since it was made available to the public. I tend to think of Songbird more as a media player, podcatcher and media library with web browsing features (rather than as a web browser with added media features)......
At present, it's still in development, but (in my opinion) already has some useful features which make it possible to use for downloading and managing Podcasts as an alternative to iTunes, myPodder, or whatever your favourite podcatcher is.
Once you get used to the way it works, I've personally found that Songbird can be a great way of searching for, listening to and downloading music from websites. It is also an ideal way of listening to internet radio stations.
Personally I wouldn't recommend using Songbird as a main web browser just yet, but the more features that get added over time increases my opinion that it is already becoming increasingly viable as a replacement for iTunes.

yeah, that is kind of the way i see it, media player - it hadn't crossed my mind to use it to play my podcasts, but i'm possibly too used to having itunes, besides i like my music and web browsing separate - interface looks crammed to me, i like a full screen browsing

(incase anyone is interested) Songbird has now reached version 1.0 status. The official binary builds from the Songbird team are still for Mac OS X 10.5 (Intel only) / Linux / Windows XP/Vista and can be found at: getsongbird.com/download/An unofficial Mac OS X 10.5 (PPC) build is available from Thomas Legg at www.the-eleven.com/tlegg/ and his blog says that he's working on attempting a Mac OS X 10.4 build. The application has still got some way to go before being perfect and doesn't yet include all the features which would make it complete, but despite this it does have some interesting features (and some version 1.0 style niggles to go with them).
