On Macs being more expensive it's easy to do a hardware comparison on specifications and miss out a few other things that matter when time is money…
The ability to run OS X and have very little downtime and maintenance rather than some Microsoft piece of sh!t - with the resultant increase in time available for work and play
Build quality (with some rare exceptions like the original white macbook)
Apple support already mentioned with Applecare but deserves another mention from my experience
The pleasure derived from using well designed hardware and software.
Amortise £300 over 3 years and take theses factors into account and I reckon the iMac is one of the best value purchases you can make.

^The Maintenance and all that what you mentioned is what I think would push it the extra value. Also the fact that I think my iMac from 2008 will still be able to use most new software maybe 10 yeas later. I seriously doubt a £1000 PC could do that.

Hi Folks, I got my first Mac on Saturday, Talk about delighted, I am so chuffed with myself, I, for one will not be shifting back to Microsoft, no more BSOD's for me, YIPEE!
I could only afford to get i3 base model but i'll tell you it's fast! In fact I am that happy I feel like email Mr. Jobs to tell Thanks for building an awesome OS & System, it might be expensive but by gum it's so worth it!

Let us know if you have any questions about using it, we love to help.

I don't think I will ever need a touch screen iMac. My arms would get tired after a few minutes and to use it with the screen facing up would need me to be standing or a very low desk.

Its basically a hybrid of the iPad and current iMac.

I am not convinced yet about the merits of a touch interface on a desktop machine. This seems like a reasonable idea though. I expect there are lots of folk trying out various configurations to see what actually does work.

Once you get use to touch you wonder how you lived without it.

You miss it so much when you go back to non-touch devices. Its strange how natural it feels after only a few hours use.
