Hi Paul
Welcome to the crazy world of British Mac. Welcome especially to the forum.
The podcasts are meant to be weekly but there have been some significant gaps. Will has from time to time been engaged on projects that mean he does not get all the time he would like to devote to the podcast.
I have stepped in to help Mike who set this forum up. I am trying to rekindle a bit of a community here so please stop by often and share.

Hi Paul,
Yes, as Church Cat says welcome to the forum, it's lovely to have you here.
The podcasts should be weekly, friday being the day, but sometimes life, labradors, and random events get in the way!
Episode 69 out on the friday the 30th. And then comes June! I was talking to a mate of mine and he says June 2008 will be 1984 all over again. iPhone madness!
Thanks for joining the forum, plus thanks Church Cat for this forum topic idea, sometimes it's fun just to say hello!

Hi, My name's Tim and I think I'm in the wrong room... Maybe not. Here goes... My name's Tim, I'm from North Birmingham, UK - Mac switcher - started by buying an iPod video in 2005. I initially hated it, but as I got used to it I began to love it. The halo effect got me, and I progressed to an iMac G5 17" that Christmas - just before they went Intel... bugger. Loved OS X, iTunes, and podcasts - found British Mac soon after. Vowed never to buy another Wintel PC, and in March blew out and got a Mac Pro 3.0 dual and 30 inch ACD. Honestly the best, most impressive machine I've ever used - and you can hear yourself think. Virtualisation is essential and I've been blown away by VMware fusion and its' ability to run all of my clunky bespoke Windows software. I'm an electrical/electronic engineer who uses the Mac for design and cad stuff as well as general media stuff. I'm a keen cyclist, and quite often visit Will's hometown of Ironbridge - I just wish the council would fix the potholes down there... I love British Mac - the wonderful blend of information, fun, crap puns and eccentricity are just what it took to get me doing more stuff with the Mac. It's a genuinely warm, entertaining 'cast and unlike most others, isn't up its' own backside. Will's relationship with his audience is charming and hilarious and I look forward to each new one with eagerness. Top marks to all the contributors also... Mike in particular gave me pointers through SBM to doing more than ever thought I would with OS X. I'm a huuuge music fan and a bit of a hairy old hippy. My last.fm profile is at... www.last.fm/user/Goodbye_HarmonyFrom where it can be seen that I'm fond of a lot of stuff that's probably quite embarrassing... Anyway... 'nuff about me. Best wishes to all, and thanks in particular to Will, a true gent. Tim

Hello there, my name is Simon Verhoef , I live in a caravan on top of a hill in the North Yorkshire moors. I'm a musician and animator and keen astronomer. However those activities cost me rather than make me money so i'm also a builder of sorts.
I stumbled across BritishMac on itunes , drawn in by the logo (great logo btw!) I think it's a gloriously daft podcast with great music..particularly loved the episode which ended with Handel and Will doing the sign off.
I enjoy the eclectic range of music very much, and while not normally considering myself to be very patriotic, sometimes i do feel like standing up during parts of the podcast, like my Grandad used to encourage us to do during the Queens speech. Come to think of it my Grandad and all his family were from Ironbridge so maybe it's something in the water. (alcohol?)
I have a pre-Intel iMac G5 17" running Logic Pro, Final Cut HD, After Effects 6.5 all which run gloriously. a marked contrast to the days when i used Windows (boo).I also have an ipod classic.
I know this isn't a request page, but i think Roy Harper's song "when an old cricketer leaves the crease" wouldn't feel out of place in this podcast, espescially the part with the Grimethorpe Colliery brass band. A real Hovis moment and it's about Cricket.
Anyway, best of luck guys, may your podcast and site go from strength to strength
I raise a glass of hot cider in your direction,
Slim

Hi Slim
Heh - what is it with Mac people living in caravans?
I'm a bit worried. You seem to be stalking me... why else would you be thinking about 'When the Last Cricketer...' and Count Arthur Strong (British Mac Icon suggestions...)
Roy Harper is a true Brit folk/prog/hippy icon; still AFAIK going strong, as is his son, Nick, now a recording artist in his own right. The song in question is one that sums up all that is Cricket, bygone summers and maybe even a little John Arlott... it genuinely brings a tear to the old eye when I hear it.
Roy also deserves bonus British Mac Eccentric points for the (very possibly apocryphal) story about him catching something very nasty after giving the kiss of life to a dying sheep...
All the best
Tim

You know Tim i think you're right Roy Harper did kiss a sheep......they had to put it down afterwards.. I think it is a true story....i used to go and see him a lot and people in the audience were always baaahing. It certainly bemused me for a while , but didn't seem to faze him a great amount so he must've done it. Apparently it left him with one working lung , which is probably 1 more than he should've had after his misspent youth, middle and old age
Good old Roy.

I have never kissed a sheep. Hello. My name is Gregor Findlay. Not a techie but I started out working at Xerox selling their Viewpoint based workstations and enjoyed the challenge of convincing Mac users that the Xerox system was even easier to use (which it was) - had to spend years in the clutches of Mr Gates's evil empire but moved me and the wife's businesses to MAC a couple of years ago and never looked back ) Love the show - i hope the Americans are listening - also enjoy the mac geek gab keep it up!

Hello My name is Matt and I'm a (Mac) Addict after resisting for almost a year waiting for the leopard to be released into the wilds. I gave in when the MacBook was updated in November 2007 installed VMWare almost straight away to relieve any teething problems i might have had (aside from a small number of proprietary apps i rarely use it). i was dragged in by the mythical "Halo" effect (i was playing Halo when i thought to myself i should get a mac) after almost 2 years of ipod use i finally decided to switch. First subscribed when i decided to make the move in early 2007 along with a few other mac shows (I've since unsubscribed from most of them) found it through iTunes as many others have and slowly using the site as well. finally joining the forums after meeting the man himself accidentally during his lunch break this past Tuesday 24th offering to buy him a pint and ending up having Will buy me a pint (Cola I've Been Sober since '97) at a local pub had a nice long chat about macs, iphones and various other topics including religion strangely enough. anyways enough about why I'm here onto who i here my names Matt i live in the wiltshire countryside town of Melksham after moving from Bristol. i work for a fruit machine company and therefore have plenty of time driving around listening to podcasts (so much nonsense on the radio these days) i visit the Tamworth Snowdome every month or so and am slowly building up my collection of apple gear from ipod to macbook and extreme router to hopefully soon a new iphone (with full wife approval surprisingly)

Hello!
OK, perhaps a little bit more ... my name is Jock and I'm an expatriate Scotsman living in the east Riding of Yorkshire.
I started with a SCMP microprocessor many years ago, then had a Commodore PET, followed by an Apple ][, I've owned an Apple Lisa, Macintosh 128K, a "real" IBM PC (with cassette port!) and a few IBM clones, then a Macintosh Centris, more PC clones and currently a 24" iMac - still have the PC clones around for a couple of apps the Mac can't handle easily though.

Hello all
I'm new to the forum, and have been listening to British Mac for three or four months now. It is wonderful - thanks Will, and all the contributors.
I've been using Macs for ten years now, a move forced on me by taking a job with a publishers in London in 1998. I was furious at the time, as I was used to using Windows - and I loved my Psions. On starting the new job I almost instantly 'got it', quickly bought a G3 Wallstreet laptop, and haven't looked back since.
I've moved on from the publishing job, and I now live and work in Dorset - a few miles away from the old Mac and Mou... er, I mean the Square and Compass at Worth Matravers. My local is in fact the Sailor's Return in Chaldon Herring near Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, so anyone visiting the area on their hols is welcome to use my WiFi and see if I'm up for a pint.
I currently have a MacBook Pro 15" and an iPhone. My wife has a Powerbook G4 17", and we share a 20" first-gen Intel iMac with the kids, who use it as a TV.

Hello I'm Graham. I neither own nor live in a caravan, just a regular semi in Chelmsford in Essex. I only just about own a Mac too which is a bit of an oddity because I've been listening to British Mac for nearly two years! I like to make sure I've done my groundwork before a new purchase...
The MacPro and I have been forming a great working relationship since March of this year.
I pay the bills by advising large organisations about risk management and in my spare time I fiddle about with cameras and photography.
