OK, so Lion downloaded perfectly. Less than 30 minutes. But it wouldn't install on my MBP which meets minimum specs & has over 85Gb free HD. It failed twice saying it couldn't create a recovery partition. The KB article mentioned RAID which I don't have and 'non-standard' Boot Camp partitions which I didn't think I had, but it appears that to Apple if you access a BC Partition using VMware Fusion, that makes the partition non standard. The solution seems to have been to reboot into Boot Camp, then restart into MacOSX. This saves changes in Apple standard format and allowed Lion to install. Now to play.

Looks like I'll have to buy SL then buy Lion in the same day. Yeah, well... F you, Apple. I will wait until whatever big cat you bring out next. Is there even a way to email Apple Customer Support? I can't find one anywhere... I'm covered by Applecare but don't fancy phoning India.

Anyone tried making the bootable disk from the dmg file inside the lion package, then going into disk utility in that, erasing and installing, onto a leopard machine?
Surley that's possible...

I'm covered by Applecare but don't fancy phoning India. I've never been put through to an Indian call centre when using Applecare. Last time he was Dutch

Installed Lion on my White Macbook last night - took a fair bit of time to download (nearly two hours), but that's probably because it was peak tiime ADSL usage on my Exchange (started download at 18:45). Install took 45 mins only issue is that the partition on my WD MyBook World that I use for Time Machine backups is now inaccessible.
I have looked on the Western Digital forums and seems that while WD where aware of the issue (which relates to the new features of AFP) they where waiting until the release of Lion before finalising the Firmware upgrade. As a result of this there is currently no expected delivery date for the new firmware and I am without a backup solution until it arrives.
So I now need to decide if I wait for WD and keep my finger crossed or revert back to Snow Leopard......

I can only sympathize; I am waiting on Iomega to update their firmware before I install Lion. Then again I might just hang on anyway for the dust to settle and the bugs to be squashed.

Probably a good idea for us to log any bugs & fixes we find in this thread.
I had a problem with Mail. When I first booted it up, I got the "we need to upgrade your mailboxes" message - but then Mail just crashed out.
A bit of swift Googling revealed that this was pretty common - and reasonably easy to fix.
Navigate to your Mail folder (more about that later) then delete the <envelope index> file (there may be more than one apparently).
Under Lion, the ~user/Library folder where your Mail folder lives is hidden by default. There were various instructions about how to make it visible, but all I did was use the Finders <Go to Folder> item to navigate to /users/youraccount/Library - and lo and behold there I was. Identify the guilty file, delete it and Mail set about the upgrade. This took over two hours btw, so be prepared!

Good idea. Not a bug but of you're thinking of creating a boot DVD you need one bigger than 4.7Gb capacity…. can't wait so have set the upgrade going. Might have to download again…..
I do like OS upgrades - don't really know why it's so exciting...

Smooooth upgrade on the MacBook Air. No problems but if anyone is a manic webclipper on Evernote then that's not working yet.

I downloaded Lion yesterday, didn't take too long to stop with an error message, something along the lines of "unable to install, cannot create recovery" then gave an Apple support web address that didn't help much. So, having current a Applecare contract I phoned Apple (not in India, by the way) and spoke to two helpful people. The first explained that because there is no back-up disk Lion attempts to download a recovery program to a separate partition on the hard drive. In my case this was not possible because the space was occupied by Bootcamp. To cut a long story short I agreed to delete Bootcamp as I no longer need it, this was quite a palaver but I was talked through the process by the Apple adviser. Once this was done the installation proceeded quickly and without further difficulty. I am now getting to grips (and generally liking) Lion. The new scrolling etc with the Magic Mouse is taking a little getting used to. Most actions including Safari seems much quicker and I quite like Launch Pad, not sure about Mission Control as I do not yet fully understand it!

I have just noticed Beerbum's comment about Evernote, mine is working fine. I wonder if you have downloaded the latest update?

Can I describe the new looks for iCal and Address Book as a bug? I hate them. I have a 17" MBP. Yet Address Book is confined to a tiny window lost somewhere in the middle of the screen. Ugh. Even the new full screen doesn't seem to work in it - and I have never, ever wanted to own a brown faux-leather address book or diary. Even in the 80s my Filofax was plain black leather.

For any future readers, I think the Apple Adviser was giving you duff advice. I'm glad you don't need Boot Camp any more, but I found that just booting into it, having a quick look round, then restarting in Snow Leopard. That changed the Boot Camp partition and allowed me to install Lion without problem.

Spanning Sync is struggling - generating strange error messages that it can't complete the sync because certain records are referenced but not pushed. Amusingly, a couple of times the string of errors has been so long it drops off the bottom of the screen, hiding the OK button! Fortunately a quick <return> does the trick.
