I turned of the new backwards scrolling, but when I read the logic in MacWorld, I thought I'd give it another go. Basically, the metaphor is now that you are scrolling the content - not the scrollbar. When you think of it that way, it makes sense - but it is taking some getting used to.

Can I describe the new looks for iCal and Address Book as a bug? I hate them. I have a 17" MBP. Yet Address Book is confined to a tiny window lost somewhere in the middle of the screen. Ugh. Even the new full screen doesn't seem to work in it - and I have never, ever wanted to own a brown faux-leather address book or diary. Even in the 80s my Filofax was plain black leather. Eurgh - that made me look… that's ugly! andI was loving it so far!

I have just noticed Beerbum's comment about Evernote, mine is working fine. I wonder if you have downloaded the latest update? I'm on 2.3.0 - I'm trying to re-download via the AppStore but the Purchased 'tab' won't load - reckon there's something up at the bck end. I'm on 2.3.0 - it's working fine but the little elephant head I'm used ot as the clipper is gone. got the other one now. thanks

Tried to instal InstantAdmin which I use for accounting on the lion machine to test and it won't install. Not a bug but if anybody else is using InstantAdmin be warned it may not work if you upgrade

I downloaded Lion yesterday, didn't take too long to stop with an error message, something along the lines of "unable to install, cannot create recovery" then gave an Apple support web address that didn't help much. So, having current a Applecare contract I phoned Apple (not in India, by the way) and spoke to two helpful people. The first explained that because there is no back-up disk Lion attempts to download a recovery program to a separate partition on the hard drive. In my case this was not possible because the space was occupied by Bootcamp. To cut a long story short I agreed to delete Bootcamp as I no longer need it, this was quite a palaver but I was talked through the process by the Apple adviser. For any future readers, I think the Apple Adviser was giving you duff advice. I'm glad you don't need Boot Camp any more, but I found that just booting into it, having a quick look round, then restarting in Snow Leopard. That changed the Boot Camp partition and allowed me to install Lion without problem. My white iMac has bootcamp on it. I had no problem with Lion install. I had better check that bootcamp still works though. I managed to do a clean install on my MacBook by creating a DVD, booting from than and wiping the hard disk.

Re Evernote; mine is Version 2.2.3 and does include the useful little elephant head icon at the top of the page - maybe a typo Beerbum? (you mentioned version 2.3.0)

I have found the Smart Zoom feature (Magic Mouse) really annoying and distracting so I have disabled it by un-selecting the Smart Zoom box in System Preferences (Mouse).

I braved an Apple store yesterday. Looks like I definitely need to buy Snow Leopard before Lion. The reason I didn't buy SL in the first place was because I thought I would just skip it and get 10.7

Dear forum. Please stop talking about Lion. Otherwise I'm going to end up buying a new machine. I know it.

^Don't worry. We can be part of the cool-dude Leper Leopard crew. Until September when I get my loan. Then I'll get Snow Leopard... For 15 minutes... Then upgrade to Lion. I will feel like I'm wasting Snow Leopard. Unless can someone sell me a used SL DVD? You can buy old Windows copies on eBay legally so could I obtain a cheap SL used?

^I only know one person with SL, and he bought his MBP with preinstalled. I might have to hit up eBay... Amazon lists one used at £14.99. How many licenses do you get on the DVD?
