I'm getting used to Lion now, though I still feel more at home on my iMac with Leopard. Does anyone know how to permanently disable the 'Reopen applications when I log back in' thing? I can uncheck the box but it doesn't stay that way. I don't like that, but otherwise, Lion is good. When I eventually get it on the iMac, I don't think I'll really miss the gestures that much. Certainly not enough to buy a trackpad for it.

I don't believe you can, which, frankly, is a PITA. There have been lots of complaints about it across the forums, so maybe it'll get rectified in 10.7.2...

^I hope so. So far that's the only bad thing I have to say about Lion. Other things that I still need to get used to are the location of the Library Folder, but otherwise its good. There are a lot of what I would call 'useless' features. I don't see a point in Launch Pad, just have a shortcut to the Applications folder. I have that on my iMac with Leopard. Mission Control and Exposé are too similar as far as I can see, and in 10.7 Exposé doesn't show all windows like it does on Leopard. It usually hides the Finder Windows, which I find annoying.
I think I mentioned this before, but I don't think I'll be missing gestures that much. I like pinch to zoom but the others seem too much.

The point of Launch Pad…
I thought the same but my wife appreciates it. She is really visual but struggles with her eyesight sometimes and can't handle a lot of detail on the screen. Being able to press a button, have all of the options presented her in such a visual manner and being able to just click is much easier to her than my way - cmd-space for spotlight, type first few letters of app etc
Full screen apps are a boon for her as well. I'm really not that bothered unless i want to really focus but she spends lots of her time closing any other windows that are open so she can only have one open at a time (In Snowy that is)
Just goes to show how much Apple are looking help the more non-technical amongst us….I remember when WIMPs was ground-breaking stuff and made it really easy. Now it's too hard for the everyday Joe….
That said, I'm getting used to some of this new stuff and have actually used launchpad
