Looks nice - thanks. That would very nicely replace my current linkstation with it's own expansion USB drive. [DON'T TEMPT ME!] I used to use the linkstation with a linktheatre media player. The latter recently gave up the ghost after about 5 years of good service, so I'm no longer wedded to the proprietary media server format of the linkstation (though I've had a good time with it ... buffalo.nas-central.org/wiki/Adding_new_PCast_menus_for_the_LinkTheatre)The memory has arrived already. Good service from Crucial over the xmas period.

So in a an attempt to spark up some conversation my new macmini arrived today. Interesting experience setting it up with the move to Mountain Lion. Perchance, I was also installing Windows 8 and Office 2013 today too, so quite a lot of change going on at the barn.

Notes: 1. I know I'm late to this, but the whole "natural" scrolling direction is far from natural for me so far. 2. I have lost access to the old-protocol wielding linkstation. Another nail in the coffin. It sounds like this is because of the move from Samba to Apple's internal SMB implementation which doesn't support v1 authentication. 3. Had a look at the migration assistant but cancelled it as it didn't look like I could manually transfer selected files/directories. I want to avoid splatting the clean fusion drive. I'll just try copying across the network having turned on file sharing on the old mini, but the finder window seems to have got stuck as I write this. 4. 16GB (crucial) and 8 lovely cores. had to turn the average flag on in menu meters as it was quite a menu bar full.

Even this old cat has come to prefer it. 2)Err, too techy for me 3)Migration assistant has worked well for me, but a clean install has to be a a lovely thing as long as you don't mind spending the time and you have access to all your all install keys. 4)How many of those cores actually get used day to day I wonder? Have you tried using this www.mucommander.com instead of finder or another option is to use FTP rather than SMB
