What's happening on this Forum? It used to be so active, very disappointing now. How about some exciting new topics to start off the New Year. For example Tablets - discuss the merits of iPad v The rest.

A while back I was trying to get a discussion going, comparing Apple tablets with the opposition. Since then I have had my hands on a Kindle Fire HD. My hope was that this would be OK for reading ebooks but also some internet/email uses - like the iPad only easier to hold, as well as being considerably cheaper of course. As well as being lighter to hold than my iPad, it was still too heavy and nowhere near as pleasant to use as a reader than my 1st gen Kindle, a case of horses for courses I suppose. Next, reading web pages was not that easy, because of the small screen I either had to enlarge the font and/or shift the page sideways. Writing emails was OK, the on-screen keyboard was fine. Looking at photos or films was superb, the screen clarity definitely better that my 1st gen iPad. Another big negative was the comparative difficulty of finding Apps. Some are available on the Amazon web-site and install easily but many common and useful Apps have to be found elsewhere and downloading/installing seemed much more time consuming to me. All in all I was disappointed. It may be that I was making unfair comparisons but for me the benefits were outweighed by the perceived disadvantages. Maybe I should have just bought a Kndle Paperwhite? In conclusion, The Kindle Fire HD has gone back and I am awaiting a refund from Amazon.

Yey! Another win for Apple.
(posts here do not reflect my professional life)
I think the ipad mini is a marvel though. You should try one of those. Spend extra and take advantage of Apple finance at the moment (above £450 someone told me this week).

The soon to be Mrs Cat has her eye on a iPad Mini. I wonder if they will turn up on the refurb store any time soon.

its quieter than something thats really quiet, but i am glad to se a new episode has arrived, i look forward to hearing what Will has to say tomorrow on my way to Brighton. I really don't care how often it appears on my i pod, its always a pleasant surprise, anyway my mum used to say "familiarity breeds contempt". Keep it up.............. occasionally.

Keep it up.............. occasionally. I totally agree, and made the point in another thread. What we don't want is a forced, manufactured, mainline podcast. We have plenty of those. We just want Will to be Will. Now and then.
