Don't have iphone so haven't checked out push - will do so on the wife's iphone when I get a chance

Dear Forum Cat,
It's a Dog....
I used .mac on my work browser (IE6) successfully....and now it does not work AT ALL. It recommends that you use Firefox or Safari. Very nice, except there is no way the administrators of my bank's IT systems are going install them for me! So MobileMe is UselessToMe. I can access my mail via mail2web, but not the calendar or anything else.
Don't buy it, until they have fixed it.

I had heard that it does not work with IE 6
Not a great loss to me as IE 6 will not run on my Mac anyway.
I suppose Mobile Me has quite a way to go yet before it becomes a firm favourite with Windows users.

I'm trialling a MobileMe account and because of the recent debacle of the launch have got an extra month or so for free (but they have my credit card details from sign up unfortunately). I wasn't a .mac subscriber so its all new functionality for me.
First off no major hiccups. No freezes no loss of data and no outages. I did get an address book group list multiplying to three versions but once I deleted the extra ones they didn't reappear. This was before the last OSX update.
I use firefox most of the time if I use a PC but like the above person I only have IE in the office on thin client so can't use it at work nor on my bolted down work PC laptop. But then I'm not supposed to be doing non-work things at work anyway so temptation out of the way.
I've used it a lot to synch between my home desktop mac and a portable Macbook. Little things have been really useful like synching RSS feeds in Safari and calendar information across both. I reckon I'd be really annoyed about duplicating those things if I ever unsubscribed so damn them they've got me already!
I'm going to try out 'back to my mac' sometime later this week when I'm away on business as that looks really useful as a way of retrieving files I might have accidently left at home.

I've used it a lot to synch between my home desktop mac and a portable Macbook. Hi Graham, I love mobile me and haven't explored the full facilities as yet. When you say 'synch' - do you mean using the iDisk facility? This is what i use and curious if other people are doing different things with it. cheers - BB

It's working very well for me now - I change something on the iPhone contacts and it seems that within seconds it's changed on the Mac. Same going the other way

Hi
I've currently got 2 Macbooks, an Intel Imac, One Windows XP desktop, an iphone 3g, an iPod Touch and a Vista Laptop synchronising perfectly well with Mobile me, so not a bad effort really.
The iDisk part is sometimes woefully slow, and ocassionally the mail is a little dodgy but usually it's OK.
It works better with iCal and Mail than it does with Outlook but I suppose that's not surprising really.

I'm on the 90 day trial at the moment. I was a .Mac subscriber for several years until I decided that I could replace all its functionality with free stuff (I even had a letter published in MacUser on the subject - there's fame for you!). I was lured back by the - albeit not entirely true - promise of push syncing with my iPhone. It seems to be working as now promised - ie, about every 15 minutes. But it does work - and so far no duplicate events or contacts which have been the bain of my life for many years. I do love the way Mac developers are beginning to support it - I now have iBank; Delicious Library and Remember the Milk running on my iPhone

I bought MobileMe mainly because of the beautiul hosting of iPhoto galleries. When I got an iPod Touch I also wanted to get calendars synced between my Macbook and the iPod, but whilst events in the 3 default calendars do get synced, I can't seem to get an additional calendar I created on the Macbook to appear on the iPod Touch at all.
Is MobileMe supposed to deal with additional calendars? If so, what am I doing wrong?
Alan.

If you throw a PC into the mix then MobileMe becomes a failure of truly epic proportions! The latest update removes Outlook integration when using MS Exchange. This is the standard in most companies. I've reverted to synching my iphone, macbook and PC using iTunes synching and that seems to work fine. Definitely not Apple's finest hour...

Definitely not Apple's finest hour... True, and Apple were big enough to admit it. I don't mind the 30 day extension as compensation. I don't actually use the full service. I use the mail, but I get it through Mail.app. I now use the gallery, via Aperture, but I find it's a little quirky. I do use iDisk to transfer and store stuff. All the calendar stuff is just so much fluff for me at the moment. What's an iPhone?

I trialled it for a few weeks, then removed the it from my system with all the regret of a man scraping dog sh!t of his shoes. iPhone/"cloud"/MacBook syncing never worked as expected, and all-in-all I wasted far more time on putting things right than I ever saved; never before has plugging in a cable to sync seemed so simple and productive! That said, the photo galleries are truly beautiful, though the calendar/mail/contacts apps are glacial compared to, say, Google's equivalent. Anyway, I think my trial expires at the end of the month, and I probably will subscribe, but it will be a little while before I try push-syncing my iPhone again Cheers, Pete.

Quick update; it's been bugging me that Mobile Me doesn't work for, well, me, so I decided to give it another whirl. I always had issues syncing to non-MM mail accounts, so I set up my work email to be forwarded to my MM account, and to only sync to that. That worked, but my main problem was that iCal just wouldn't sync with Mobile Me - or at least, it would go through the motions of syncing, but nothing actually happened. So I spent a bit of time on Google and turned up a site that has detailed instructions for resetting your whole Mobile Me/iPhone/computer syncing structure - here - which was fairly scary (much backing-up required for peace of mind) but which, for the last week at least, seems to have worked. So that's where I am for now - genuinely seamless updates of iPhone and iCal (and all the other stuff) on my MacBook via Mobile Me, in all directions. Fab; but why did I have to jump through so many hoops?? Cheers, Pete.
