I've just treated myself to a new Macbook Pro for Christmas.
I have to cart it back and forth between home and work, so I was going to buy a spare PSU that I can leave at work.
I see several on eBay from China / Hong Kong, but I'm reluctant to buy something like that because I don't know what they're like, however I've found a supplier in Germany selling 85W Magsafe PSU's for less than £30 including carriage so I was wondering if anyone else is using a non-Apple Magsafe PSU on their Macbook Pro?

Well, despite all the advice on this thread to the contrary, I bought one of these German Chinese replacement AC adaptors.
So far, my Macbook Pro hasn't burst into flames - in fact it seems to be working quite normally and the battery does seem to charge and hold it's charge.
The adaptor (85W) cost about £28.50 including postage etc. it comes in white with a black mains lead, but that's no big deal.

Sorry Jock
Your original question was perhaps a bit out of the ordinary and there are only thirty or so active users on this forum at the moment.
Out of interest how much money have you saved? I too am considering buying a second power supply so a link to the one you bought would be appreciated.

Heather, this one was half the price of the Apple product, and although I've only been using it a week, it seems to be good quality - it's only negative is it comes with a black mains lead, but who cares when you're saving £28? Cat - here is the link : (Amazon)

Oh, I wasn't commenting on the cost. I was more giving the low-down for Mr Cat and for comparison with the Apple official brick prices. I'm pleased to hear the quality is up to snuff - the big worry is always third party stuff never quite works as expected, which is why I'm the nutter who shells out for the proper parts most of the time.

Very odd - it's 7.45am on Sunday morning but when I click on Heather's link above, I find the Apple Store is down. Are they doing a product announcement at this time?
