I've been keeping a very close eye on the MacWorld event and have to say how impressed I am with the new iLife. ClickyiPhoto has to be the greatest improvement. It'll automatically recognise faces in photographs as well as using the location information from a GPS-enabled camera or iPhone. Who is looking to buy it when it is released at the end of January? £65.00 is a bit steep, but I will certainly be in the queue! Peter.

I might think about it. Sadly, most of my photos don't include faces, so that and the geotagging features will be wasted on me to a degree (especially as I use Aperture for the "proper" camera stuff now, with iPhoto relegated to the old stuff).
I wasn't at all impressed with iMovie '08, so any improvement there must be welcomed. I don't use iDVD much (except right now as I'm making a DVD for some friends), and it's moved into the widescreen and HD arena where my DV cameras are still old tech in that regard. I like to tinker with GarageBand, but I don't use all the features in the version that came with this Mac.
I think, on balance, I probably will spend my £65 on something else.

Yes, I think the new iPhoto library features like Faces and Places look stunning! Unfortunately, I've recently migrated all my photos over to Aperture 2.
i wonder if Aperture will be updated to support Faces and Places too?
Alan.

I'm hoping this comes out before the 30th of January as I'm off to the French Alps snowboarding on my annual holiday. And taking a small video camera with a variety of mounts for attaching to my snowboard and personage. so I will be using iMovie '09 (hopefully) to edit the whole thing together in the evenings. As I did last year with my brother using iMovie '08 3 months after buying my first mac uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1iQBT_ed1w8 <--Click for camera info

iPhoto is pretty cool, I used to use Adobe something (free) or other on the Dark side, but seeing as every mac comes with iPhoto, I might as well use it

I don't do a lot of photography, for what I do iPhoto is fine. I think that that "Bridge" can be used as a plug in for iPhoto though I can't be certain of that without checking.

I agree, iPhoto is fine for what I do, infact the faces feature will be very useful for me, but my camera does not support geotagging and I do not have an iPhone (I have an iPod Touch though) can someone point me towards a list of cameras which support geotagging?

Has any played with the faces feature in IPhoto yet? I'm getting very mixed results it seams that you need the right kind of face for it to work some people it finds all of them some none. I'm very interested to see how other people are finding it as I'm beginning to think it is just me and my very poor photographic skills.

Has any played with the faces feature in IPhoto yet? I bought iLife '09 and iWork '09 and am very impressed with both of them. The face recognition feature has worked very well for me, really. It struggles to recognise faces if they are not entirely face-on to the camera, but I can understand that limitation. On photos where the faces are clear and facing the camera, it does work very well. Peter.

Did you get a good price for these new updates?
Or did you just pay the standard going rate?
I'd probably buy if I could find a bargain price.
Alan.

'd probably buy if I could find a bargain price. What do you call a bargain? Personally, I think £70 for everything you get in iLife is one hell of a bargain. (Less so if you want the iWork package as well, unless you go for the Mac Box Set, which is iLife, iWork and Leopard in a box for £150. A steal.)

I agree they are good value, but I have a policy not to by anything at the full price. For example, I bought iLife 06 for £45 and iLife 08 for £50 (both within a couple of months of their release). Did you get a good price for these new updates? I got them buy-one-get-one-free from Apple after having a few problems with my MacBook. I was going to buy iLife '09 anyway, but I asked nicely and got both of them Peter.

Amazon often seem to have good deals. (Except on the Mac Box Set, which costs 1p more. ) I was quite astonished to find how much more the Mac Box Set costs in the UK than the US.
