I just bought a new nano and for some reason it is syncing old listened too podcasts as well as the latest unlistened. I have only stipulated the unlistened ones and can't figure why I am getting all of them..
Any ideas?

Have you listened to all the podcast - i.e. right up to the end? If you don't it will still have a play count of zero and will be picked up (even though it doesn't have a blue dot - as the dot just means New)? You can also set up your own smart folder to only select podcasts with a playcount of zero.

Does that mean we have t listen right up to the very end, even those podcasts involving Fez's and icons ;-) Can you skip to end and count that as having fully listened to the podcast

No, you can't skip - the podcast must be played up to the end. It's the reason why Adam of the MacCast puts a chapter 5 seconds from the end of his podcast - in that way you can skip up to that point and then just play the last 5 seconds (which are silent). Nice touch by Adam. Only works on his enhanced podcast (AAC) not the normal MP3 version, as the latter doesn't have chapter capability.

Well I suppose it's not too much of a hassle to skip forward to the last couple of seconds and you only need to do that to podcasts you want to keep on iTunes after listening to them

I do wish some mega long casters would add chapters..Especially most of the US ones i listen too. It allows me to streamline my listening.. Regarding the nano.. All sorted thanks.. It was simply the settings on my ipod page.. hmmm slight over site due to a new version of itunes being installed. Panic over..

Here's another problem I have. I've got an ipod video and on the video menu there is a "video playlist" However on iTunes it doesn't show I'd like to put single episodes of certain video podcasts to watch during my lunch hour. When i set up a playlist and put video podcasts on it, the ipod doesn't show them when i've ejected it from my mac

Yes, "video playlist" doesn't show on iTunes and, on my iPod, the content doesn't only contain videos!
As for putting video podcasts on the iPod, I think you might be experiencing the effect of two issues: 1) that you can only watch iPod compatible video podcasts and others will not be uploaded to the iPod; 2) You can only watch video podcasts by selecting Videos first in the iPod's menu and then look for Video Playlists, Movies, Video Podcasts, etc. If you go through other routes, you will at best only hear the audio or the podcast will just not be there (e.g. trying to find a video podcast by going to Music>Playlists>your playlist).

My problem is neither of those to be honest. I've got a video podcast called Channel frederator for example that I've only just come across. Each episode is about 15 minutes long. There are about 90 episodes for me to watch and I can't load to them all to the iPod as there isn't enough room. What I'd like to do is be able to have a video playlist where I can put 3 or 4 similar types of podcasts on so I can watch them in my lunch hour and then i can put some more on the next day. I can't see the point of having a Video Playlist showing on the ipod's video playlist if you can't use it!

Does it not work creating a manual playlist, dragging the video podcasts that you want to listen to into it. They will then appear under Video Podcasts in the Video section of your iPod. Then, when you've listened to them, take them out and replace with the next 3 or 4?
At the moment, iTunes doesn't have a feature of only syncing the 3/5 oldest podcasts; Apple assumes, in its wisdom, that you want the newest.

Nope that's exactly what I did, I created a playlist and dragged the podcasts on to it and on itunes the lists is showing. When I eject the ipod the playlist is nowhere to be seen not even under music playlists!

That's probably a problem with your iPod then as it works for me in general. Let me try it later with that specific video podcast and I'll get back to you.

Silly question - you DO have an iPod that plays video, don't you (i.e. a 5th Gen iPod)?

I've decided my ipod is possessed. I just tried again and put 5 episodes of Channel frederator and 3 episodes of another video podcasts on a playlist When i ejected my ipod and went to the video playlist there was my playlist with said podcasts, Good times! However on putting the ipod back in the dock the playlist is still there but the podcasts have disappeared and the playlist is empty, Bad times! Very strange and I wish i knew why it was doing it
