So, is anyone out there using the Safari 3 beta? I'm enjoying it on the Mac. Wouldn't risk a beta on the vulnerable Windows OS though. For me, it seems faster than Safari 2 was on my Intel MBP but no difference in speed on the PPC Mac Mini. I really like some of the features it offers. Pulling off the tabs and making new windows is quite cool.

I gave up on it - it crashed too often to be useful.
It also has an annoying bug, where many web pages (including Apple's!) load, but the content isn't visible. I needed to wait for the stop button to change to refresh, then reload the page and the content would be there.

Completely toasted all my dashboard widgets - uninstalled and now they all work fine again. Don't use safari, and this release doesn't do enough to get me to switch.

Strange .. works fine on my Mac. But I've gotten used to using Firefox so I don't really care about it. Very happy to have it on my Windows machine though. As for the bugs .. you gives a monkeys .. Like windows software is sooo secure . I only run games on my PC anyways .. if someone wants to hack it .. feel free. Nothing but games and crap on their anyways. It's the Mac that does all the big stuff

I am perplex as to why people are rushing out to try Safari Beta 3 as most of its (very few) new features will only be available with leopard basically whats the point

It's not really that bad a beta now for the Mac and it has some good new features such as warning you when you are about to close multiple tabs or when you are about to close a tab that includes a comment you've not finished writing. I also love the improved Find function. Here are what is already available on the beta. I only know of two missing features, referred to in the MacWorld article. What features do you think it is getting in Leopard? Features reviews: www.macworld.com/2007/06/firstlooks/safari3/index.phpand www.tuaw.com/2007/06/13/beta-beat-more-great-safari-3-features/I can understand why the improvements in Safari 3 have people rushing out and giving it a try.

Well we are no longer in Beta. Even Tiger users have Safari if they upgrade to 10.4.11 however I am reluctant to do that until there is a decent ad blocker (such as Pith Helmet) made available for it.
Does anyone know of one?

I've not heard from Will for ages. Yes, it sure is quiet on this forum. I'm just doing the basics of checking the site for spam and accepting new member requests. I'm mainly on the ScreenCastsOnline forum if you wish to try that one out - it's slightly more lively, with over 1,700 members but even so, there's maybe only 10 of us who are regular posters. I'll also be involved in the forum for Mactropolis when it starts up shortly.

ScreenCastsOnline is a UK site. Mactropolis is based in Canada.

ScreenCastsOnline is a UK site. Mactropolis is based in Canada. Well I might look in then. Every forum needs it's own cat. Though it seems that most of the members there are "power users" and I feel a bit out of my depth. It is hard enough even typing with paws you know. What I like about "British Mac" is that the author (Will?) seems quite potty. This is a good characteristic I feel. CC

Yes, Will comes off as a great British eccentric, doesn't he?!

Yes, I love it. I am really hoping that British Mac will be back on air soon. If you see Will any time in the near future you can tell him that his forum now has a cat. CC
