So was anyone else here mental enough to go and queue for a new phone today?
I always said I would never get up and go queue up early in the morning. But today I did just that. 5am I was stood outside the O2 shop in Newbury. it was a bit of a larf and there was free tea and coffee. But I will admit to being a bit tired now!
As for the phone it looks great, you can really see the difference in the screen resolution. not had much chance to play with it yet though.
"I'm British. I know how to queue"

^There's no way all those people will get an iPhone. The shop won't even have that many in. I reckon about 1/3 of that line will actually get a phone today.

Blimey - and I thought the half dozen people queuing outside Carphone Warehouse in Ashton under Lyne were mad. I wonder how many of those in the Manchester queue actually got a phone?

It is a bit mad. It's only a phone; a lovely phone I'm sure, but does it warrant such crazy queues?!
Wish I had one!

It wasn't too bad in Newbury, the wife and I were 14th and 15th in the queue and we got a 32GB iPhone each and were back home by 9:15.

I love my 3GS. There is nothing about iPhone 4 that temps me to upgrade. I do wonder what iPhone 5 will have next year though. Just what could they add next year? Tricorder? Phaser? Sonic Screwdriver?

Military-grade radar, personal teleportation device. No need to have a phone anymore, just teleport to the person and talk to them.

I got mine yesterday but I certainly didn't queue!! I reserved a 16Gb Black one at the Apple store in Cambridge. However I would rather take a kick in the nuts than queue unnecessarily so when I arrived at about 12:30pm and there were 10 people in line, we decided to go for lunch. 90 minutes later there was no queue and I was seen immediately. Apparently the first person arrived at 3:00am. As far as the phone goes, the screen really is amazing. It is much faster than my old 3G but doesn't seem much different to the 3GS in terms of snappiness. The camera is very nice and the HD video is most pleasing. Haven't used FaceTime yet so can't report on that. My take is that 3GS owners need more money than sense to upgrade but if you have one of the older models then it's well worth it.

I must be a 'more money than sense' person then as I upgraded from a 3GS. Lol
I ordered mine for home delivery, sod queuing! Loving the new screen and camera.
I was fed up with my 'old' GS's case suffering from cracks despite treating it v carefully. Apple store were very good at swapping it out tho. As for speed, the 4 does seem a lot snappier than the 3GS especially launching apps and browsing via WiFi on 802.11g (I'm not prepared to lose out on WiFi speed at home by dropping my N network to 2.4GHz).
At work today I noticed improved reception (I'm on Orange) with it maintaining 3G all day. On a plus I also made good money selling the 3 GS to my neighbour at a price fair to us both.

I was forgetting the trade in aspect. It makes the whole prospect much more wallet friendly. At the end of the day if you can afford it and want one then why not? Conversely if you don't want to spend the dosh and have a 3GS already then I don't think you're missing out in a big way. As far as cracking goes, never had that problem myself. When I sent my old 3G to O2 recycle, it looked almost new after a bit of buffing with a soft cloth. Speaking of the antenna problem on the iPhone4 - I have tried and tried but cannot replicate it so all in all I am a happy camper.
