Having just changed my car to a model without the aux input for an iPod on the stereo, I'm looking to get an FM transmitter so I can listen to British Mac on the way to work. The Belkin models seem to get the best overall reviews. Has anyone got views on this subject? Thanks guys, Dave

I know someone with one, he uses it with his iPhone. Safer and easier than leaving CDs in the car. It works pretty well, but there is rubbish bass response. It isn't the speakers - playing the same song from a CD sounds way better. Spoken podcasts and the majority of people will find it perfect though... Sometimes it pains me to be such an audiophile. I wish I could save space on my Hard Drive by importing MP3s instead of lossless AIFFs but I can't bring myself to do it.

Thanks for your input, Alex. Didn't realise these things could affect bass. I was more concerned about getting a 'clean', interference free sound. Looks like I might have to rethink it, unless anyone else can shed some light on it and recommend a good one. Thanks again.

^It might only be that one which affects bass, it might be the radio in my friend's car. 99% of people will find that almost any of them will do - They all do the same jobs and it's unlikely you are going to need one with more than a 6-foot transmission radius at the very most. So unless you are an audiophile, listening to spoken-word podcasts and the occasional few tracks won't sound any different no matter if you pay £15 or £50 for one.

Just be aware that they simply fail to work in some cars. I drive a Peugeot and have tried a Belkin, a Kensington and my TomTom Go 720 - simply no reception at all. I've given up.
