Hi all,
I'm a web designer from Milton Keynes, and last year upgraded my G4 to a nice new shiny 24inch iMac. It's fantastic.
Listen to a lot of podcasts throughout the day and thought it was time I listened to a Mac-specific one. I've settled on this one which seems by far the best of the bunch I've been trawling through.
Just been listening to episode #91, and have listened to a few before that too.
Going to be upgrading my current phone next year when the contract runs out to an iPhone at last as well.
good times.

;D Hello!!
I am a brand spanking newbie just on the way over from PC! i have no idea about the mac OS but by listening to the podcast (since about number 30) i have decided to take the plunge. We are getting a new imac 3.06 24". I am not a designer or anything fancy, in fact i like to play games but that will no doubt change on the mac as it ain't no gaming computer which is a shame (don't shoot me down in flames) powerful enough yes but games just ain't made for them (i can play my fav footie manager however still).
Any hoooo , the podcast is the best thing since the last best thing and never change it to a more 'formal' layout, the humour is great and i love listening in bed and ignoring the screaming kids at night so the missis has to get up to sort them out.
So remember folks some of us out there are gamers who have just seen the light of the Mac and are not eggheads (as many of us PC users think of you (now us) Apple users)
David

Hi All. I'm Phil, a photographer based in sunny Lincoln. Been using Macs since my Performa 6200 on OS7 with photoshop 3 since 1995. Weird to think my iPhone has more power than that ol Mac could ever have! The whole family here is all Mac Friendly and I'm slowly converting everyone around me! Been listening to the podcast for the last 12 months and loving it's 'Britishness' Keep up the good work

Hi there all you lovely Mac dudes. My real name is Darren Davies, I am a long time listener (and contributor) to the great British Mac since BM1. I work as an erm, (hold on let me look it up) Desktop Systems Development Consultant and Web Innovation Officer. I can never remember. How about a little story.About 4 years ago my girlfriend and I were in the market for a new computer. She said "does our new PC have to be a PC? How about a Mac!" I thought she was crazy and had finally lost it. I went to have a look at an iMac. What's this one button mouse lark? How do I configure this? I was initially confused, we ended up buying a Sony Vaio costing an arm and several legs. I looked into the Mac some more, bought some magazines, and found out the reason I had such a hard time in PC world with a demo Mac. They had locked it down so much you couldn't try it out, and their staff knew little about Macs. Then I had a revelation moment after I read "the missing manual for OSX 10.3" each page turn introduced a much better way to do things compared to Windows. We couldn't help ourselves, our enthusiasm over iLife and OSX made us rush out and buy an OSX 10.4 iMac. What an awesome experience! Computing was fun again, everything just worked. I quickly learned how to do stuff in depth, and take advantage of this amazing computer. I then vowed that the Sony was going to be our last Windows system. We have been happily using Macs ever since. In fact I even use a Mac at work as my main desktop machine, to do my Windows development work. My Mac still amazes me today, with its elegant way of doing things, no other computer and operating system comes close, let me tell you I've tried them all! - BM was the first podcast I ever listened to, Will's refreshing style was erm.... refreshing! I absolutely love BM almost as much as my Mac, its great fun to listen to making ironing almost a pleasure Finding out how wonderful the Mac community is was also a pleasure. I think it is very important to spread the word, help the Mac community and dispel misunderstandings that discourage some from taking the plunge and trying something new. Can't believe it has taken me so long to join the forum. I also can't believe it has taken me so long to discover the Mac. I should listen to my girlfriend more!

Oops, I've not been contributing from BM1, but I started listening early. I've been contributing recently and have been lucky enough to meet Will several times.
Thanks Will for one of the best podcasts out there. Great production quality, great content. Smashing!
P.S. I miss jokes from Dave in OZ, record a few jokes for us Dave!

Hi, I'm Doug. Been working with computers since 1964: LEO, English Electric-LEO, English Electric LEO Marconi, ICL - and that was without leaving my desk - in Sydney. I've had several meteoric careers (meteors go down as well as up, don't they?) and now I'm still trying to pay the bills in the mobile phone industry. Maybe I should cut my spending and retire, but I've got to save up for the replacement to my five-year-old G4 laptop, which is about as beautiful a machine as I could imagine. And I need a new iPhone 3GS. And I want to put WiFi everywhere in the house, and...
But I'm definitely going to retire soon. Once I've got all the gear I need.
I've been following British Mac for years. I like the humour (if Dave wants a stand-in any time, I'll be happy to oblige). Anyone wanting to discuss cricket please do it when I'm not around - I'm hurting enough already.

I'm Edd and I've finally got around to signing up here. I'm a student of Bath, but currently in Farnborough for a year and originally from Rugby. I got my MacBook 2 years ago, and have loved it ever since, as both a day-to-day machine, and for development. Other interests include taking the odd photo, and following rugby and (of course) cricket. I know at least two people here, iThink (Mr. Cat & Ms. HK), and am sure I'll enjoy my time here.

Hello my name is Brian Hedley and I am a 35 year old computer geek I first started using Macs when in college with the Classics (until the CDEF virus killed all my discs destroying eight months of work). I have only recently got back into the Mac world and now possess a Powerbook 1400 (broken), Newton 2100 a beige G3 and my most recent acquisition a iMac G3 Indigo 400mhz machine When I am not stacking shelves to pay my bills I am a computer repair guy, Web Designer and the tour guide/ web editor for the Museum of Computing in Swindon. We would love to do a Mac exhibition butwould probably need to find some more machines... If you would like to help the contact info is on the website www.museumofcomputing.org.ukMust admit only just found British Mac via iTunes but keep up the good work... Bri

Welcome Brian!
I saw the old collection when it was the University of Bath and reminisced over 8" floppies when I passed the IBM System 34 (or was it 36?) on the way to the library
Hope you enjoy the forum as much as the podcast ;o)
Cheers - bb
