I intend to post in this thread links to top shareware as I discover it. I will use my usual “picture-clicky” style where I can. Please feel to post your own suggestions in this thread or make a new thread if you find great shareware, whichever you prefer. This board is the place to share your finds with the British Mac forum members.

My first suggestion is an application that I use EVERY day. It has saved my skin more than once. It is just the easiest backup application in the world and the backups are bootable too. I can also commend their customer support. I have found them to be quick, courteous and helpful. ^ Clicky

Here at the cat basket we print a lot of CD labels. We use a Canon iP4300 printer and whilst the printer is good the software that came with it was poor in the extreme. It was buggy and was so dated it would have looked at home on a PC running XP I tried a number of disc printing utilities but most of them felt like they had been ported from Windows. Not good. Then I found Disc Cover. It feels very Mac-like and has made the production of disc labels a pleasure. If you are stuck in the magic marker days why not give it a try. Especially if your printer supports on disc printing. ^ Clicky

A couple of cool applications that I've found useful are Yep (for organising PDFs), iShowU (very easy to use screen recorder) and RapidWeaver (web design).

I have used this one for so long I almost forgot that it is not part of OS X. It is highly customisable and just lets you keep an eye on what your Mac is doing. MENU METERS^ Clicky edit. I don't use this anymore. See below.

For a long time I have loved the application Fuzzy Clock. It makes me feel like a cat and not a machine. Nobody want to know that the time is two minutes past twelve. Instead we want to hear that it is just gone twelve. That is what fuzzy clock does. ^ Clicky Great free application, I commend it to you.

I couldn't believe it when i found out there was an open source mind-mapping tool available! It's called FreeMind at freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page- I've been using it constantly for days now and is just brilliant - well chuffed

One for the amateur photographers among us. I always take my laptop on holiday and dump all our pictures onto it. I often do a bit of editing in iPhoto, run slideshows etc. Then when I get home, I have all the bother of combining the pictures on my laptop into our main iPhoto library. Enter iPhoto Library Manager ^ clicky For anyone who's ever tried to merge iPhoto libraries, it's worth £10 even if you only use it once!

I use a souped up version of iTunes that plays karaoke tracks with associated lyrics on screen. The software is better by a mile than anything on the Windows side and is Mac only. I commend it to you. kJams^ Clicky

An honest answer? Um, no. Now, if they did a version where you could aim a spud gun or elastic band at the lights and ping them out one by one...
