Has anyone in the forum used the accounting software from Accountz ( www.accountz.com), and so what were your experiences of it & the company's customer services? I need something which has true cross platform abilities (ie Mac, Windows and Linux) and includes more comprehensive payroll abilities than Gnucash - I'm currently weighing up capabilities between a couple of open source solutions (Postbooks looking the most likely), or Accountz

This is a perennial problem on the Mac. The need for a really good cross platform accounting application.

I don't think I quite know what Accountz is, but could you not install XP onto your Mac and just use Access? As much as I HATE Excel and Access, I know they are pretty good.

I hate the name. Account z If they can't even spell the word correctly how could I trust them with my accounts?

Just had a look on the Mac App store. Accountz is not for sale there yet. I am not sure what this says about it but it is interesting to note that there are no 5 or even 4 star finance apps in there yet.

From the sound of it, you are looking for business accounts, rather than the home accounts packages on the App Store. For many years, MYOB was the default choice for Mac users. That was taken over and killed off by Mamut, who have now launched AccountEdge. I've not used it, but used to like MYOB. What I can't answer is the question of how interchangeable files are cross platform. As for Accountz, I share Mr Cat's view of the name - from memory they do a downloadable demo, so why not just give it a go.
