Just saw this
"Apple CEO Steve Jobs today sent the following email to all Apple employees:
Team,
At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health. I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company.
I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for all of Apple’s day to day operations. I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011.
I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy.
Steve"
I'm hoping for the best. My heart goes out to his family and friends if this is a relapse.

Warm milk, that is what he needs. Warm milk and a vet with gentle hands.

Let's hope for a speedy recovery - at least SJ knows that Tim Cook is a safe pair of hands.

While I wish St Jobs well, I really don't see why it's any of our business. He may be the figurehead, but the company will still function while he's not there. He must know and be happy about that, otherwise he'd not take the time out.
I don't quite see why the media seems to have formed the opinion that each Apple product sold has been personally approved, blessed and sealed by Steve in his office before shipping out. That is patently not the case! =oD

Cook 'in' Apples, cooking apples (snigger) waits for tumbleweed to pass... On a more serious note everyone needs a rest sometime-even Mr Jobs! Cook seems to be the obvious successor with his experience in the company. Hope Mr Jobs is ok, he's worked very hard to make Apple what is is today and good luck to him!

he's worked very hard to make Apple what is is today and good luck to him! You see? Sure, Jobs has worked hard. It was his vision and single-mindedness that saved Apple from itself. He's also worked hard at building a large and very effective team around him. Apple will survive Jobs because he's built the team to have the same vision and passion.

I agree with you re Apple not just being Steve Jobs. I'm not a shareholder so it truly isn't any of my business but I am bothered and concerned about one of my heroes. I don't have many and Steve is one of them and I'll be very sad the day he goes. Certainly sadder than when I heard about Elvis.
