Let's not start a Microsoft bashing thread - it's too easy.
But I've just updated my copy of Office 2008. Now, it has always irritated me that Microsoft have created an "auto-updater" which demands that you quit itself before it will carry on with the update. But at least there is a certain logic in demanding that you quit all Microsoft products.
But todays update demanded that I quit Safari as well.
Can anyone find any logical reason for that, cos I can't?

I hate my Office 2008. It is so difficult to use and compared to the Windows version is severely lacking. Especially Excel. Also, their auto-updater only seems to have one level of urgency for the updates: Critical. I have had a 140something MB download waiting there for months because I can't download it on my horrible connection. As much as I don't like it, Office for Windows is far, far superior than Office for Mac.

Only a guess, but Safari includes a certain level of 'out of the box' potential for integration with Mail and Address Book, etc. If the M$ Office update needs Mail, Address Book, etc to be quit because of whatever it is updating (ie related to Outlook) then it might need Safari to quit as well(??) .... like I said though - only a guess
