Hi there,
Hoping for some input from anyone who has already made the transition from MobileMe to iCloud.
It all looks pretty good but I'm concerned about email. It seems that you can no longer use 'From' addresses belonging to other accounts you own. This is a nightmare for me as I do associate work for a number of organisations and I need my emails to appear to come from those companies.
Any input, ideas or recommendations for alternative OS X and IOS email clients (not web based, e.g. Gmail)
thanks - BeerBum (who probably needs to change his name since he hasn't had a drink since 30/12/11!!)

I have made the transition, but am not 100% sure what you mean. I have number of accounts setup on both iOS devices and on my iMac. I also have a number of aliases on my old MobileMe account which still work under iCloud.
When I am composing mail I can select any of these email addresses to send from (as long as that account is setup on that device)
I have the following accounts setup
iCloud (formerly MobileMe) Gmail hotmail my work exchange email account - this one is only on my iOS devices.

Sounds Like it's OK in your experience. This is the quote from the Take Control of iCloud ebook "And iCloud Mail actually loses a few features from MobileMe Mail—you can no longer get mail from external POP accounts, check your iCloud Mail with a POP client, or use From addresses belonging to other accounts you own; and the previous limit of five aliases has dropped to three."

Would i be correct in thinking that most of those features were part of the me.com webmail service? iso so I never really used that part so can't comment.

I'm really not sure which features were part of MobileMe and which part of Mail app. I've just realised the bigger problem for us with iCloud is the 'need' to upgrade the iPhone 3g my wife is using since it doesn't support iOS 5!

I think the whole iCloud and only being available on iOS 5 is a bit misleading.
features of iOS 5 such as app data and automatic downloads aren't available, however mail, calendars etc still work perfectly.
My wife has a me.com email address which was part of our MobileMe family pack. She uses an 2nd gen iPod Touch and she also has an android (shudder) mobile phone.
Both devices access her email perfectly.
