Hi Guys and Gals. Basically, I have an older iMac running Snow leopard and I am looking to sell on, but I would like to be able to sell it with the current operating system. When I did a fresh install of ML on the iMac I had to enter my Apple ID to install the OS. Obvious as I'm looking to sell the system shortly that would not be a legit version of ML for the new owner and also I wouldn't like to sell it on knowing it is linked to my Apple ID . Any advice would be greatly appreciated on the matter. Thanks in advance Paul.

I'd be interested in a reply to this, as I've just bought the wife a new-to-her Mac Mini with Lion installed and Lion no longer seems to be available from the App Store, so how the hell can I re-install the OS if it all goes pear-shaped?
I assume that the Snow Leopard discs that came with my iMac won't work on the Mini and Mountain Lion isn't compatible with the Mini due to its GFX system.

Both Lion and Mountain lion have a recovery partition on them. If I was you, I would backup the hard drive to an external USB drive for piece of mind. That way you can restore from that later if needs be. I use Carbon Copy Cloner from bromwich ( www.bombich.com). This tool also backs up the recovery partition on your drive to so if the hard drive in the Mac Mini totally fails you can still get your system back from your back. You can also make the backup bootable so that you can boot off the external disk if you need to. I use it to backup may mac every day as i scheduled job, but i'm just paranoid, you don't need to go that far

I'll look at the recovery partition possibilities once I get a chance to get anywhere near her Mini - probably won't be until next week when she's back at work.
I am Time Machine backing up the Mini to an external USB HDD just in case.
