:-( www.techspansion.com/It's a sad event indeed. This was/is the best utility I've ever spent a few small quid on. I wonder what the story behind this is? Perhaps Will could contact the guy and interview him. Not just to be nosey, but also to thank him for building such a fantastic tool. Alan.

I was just coming to post the same thing, I twittered about this last night. I don't know the reason why but if you look on his forums there's a long thread where someone posted a link to a warez version of VisualHub which had been downloaded something like 20,000 times.
As he's a single person developer I'd not be surprised if this is what made him think "what's the point" and give up.
I agree with you, alan, VisualHub is one of the most important utilities I own, I use it daily for converting videos for the TV.
A real shame.

That does seem a shame. I had to Wiki "warez" If this was the reason it makes it double the pity.

Upon further investigation it seems that the Dev responsible (a Mr dfunct i think) has released source code for "TranscoderRedux" sounds like VisualHub but possibly a cross Video and Audio Converter and also "PunyVid" iSquint? so hopefully someone will pick up the source and continue to develop these apps

Transcoder Redux is Visualhub in all but name. I downloaded the source and successfully built and ran it last night. Fear not, it will continue. i also bought Visual Hub and use it daily to convert video recorded on my PS3 in the very popular </sarcasm> mt2s format! Works a treat.

Is it only available in source code or is there a compiled version available? Having said that, visualhub does all I require anyway so I don't need to change.

Source code only at the moment. Binaries are bound to be forthcoming though.

I've emailed the developer to see if we could get him on the show - you never know. A agree, a real shame he's stopped - I use iSquint all the time. Maybe that was part of the trouble, iSquint was so useful I never upgraded to Visual Hub.

Just check my inbox and Tyler (the developer) is passing on all interviews and it sounds like he wants a bit of a rest from everything, which is fair enough!

I'll try an do a release build of this that works over the weekend. If anyone's interested just say so in here or send me a message and I'll either email a copy or upload the file somewhere.
