Mac OS X 10.5.6 has just been released. It's available via Software update. Working fine here.

As is my habit I am waiting for the dust to settle. Does it do anything out of the ordinary?

Far as I can tell it is just a large bug fix - although we will all be delighted by the fact that it "improves the performance and reliability" of the Chess game!

I was hoping it would somehow fix any application that uses the msn messenger service which seems to be borked on my machine, but the chess reliability it funny.

along with improving the chess performance it also removes the energy saver settings from the icon/battery% which i find really annoying as i have my macbook set to switch the screen off after 1 minute i could easily switch between best performance and better battery life now i have to launch the system preference pane and adjust it there when i watch web videos

Yeah, I upgraded, fortunately I have not suffered the "Blue Screen of Death" that some people were talking about, however, I have noticed poor stabability of applications, e.g System Preferences closed randomly, also, some applications have been on a "Crash Loop", this is when you start them, they instantly close and each time you relaunch them the same happens, the only fix is a reboot. I have also noticed when I start iTunes, it will show the spinning pinwheel sign for 5 minutes and the application will appear as Non-Responsive in force quit. This is incredibly annoying as I like to sync my iPod very quickly before I go off somewhere. The application locks up and becomes unusable, I have tried reinstalling iTunes and lots of other stuff. I am wondering if there is a problem with the iTunes library file (.itl) in the iTunes Music folder, any help please? - Sorry, I know this should really be in the help section of the forum, but I believe this problem is relevant to the 10.5.6 update.

lexy0202 - just a thought on the iTunes issue - it isn't a genius thing is it? After an upgrade/reboot I have to wait a while for the genius thing to *gather information*. The interface does show up and warn me, so maybe not. Just a thought.
