Anyone do online banking with HSBC? Since safari was updated to version to version 3.2.1 it no longer works The message on the site says use Firefox while they fix the bug, but they've said this for ages.

As daft as it sounds I have never trusted online banking. Maybe I will give it a try one day.

I'm with the cat. I don't even do telephone banking. I'm with HSBC, too.
Of course, it helps to have a branch not very far away, so it's no real hassle popping out to the bank.

I online bank with First Direct (part of HSBC) and just stick to using Firefox rather than Safari. I make sure to keep it up to date and it's always useful to have Firefox as it's amazing how many sites still don't well with Safari..... Hope this helps - beerbum oh - and a Happy New Year to all!

Been doing online banking for years - first with RBS, then with Nationwide. Never had a security problem - which is more than I can say for telephone banking, although even then ( a rogue transaction put through my account) it was sorted out within minutes of me spotting it.
Of far more concern to me is the change from signature to PIN on credit card transactions. Not only does this make your card less secure, it also transfers the onus onto the customer. With a signature, the retailer had a duty to check the signature. If it was dodgy, the retailer was responsible. With PIN, it is up to the customer to keep their PIN secret. If it is copied, then it is legally the customer's fault!
Now that is sinister.

Thanks for everyone's comments. Beerbum's absolutely right that firefox seems to have no problem doing anything. It just frustrated me a bit that for years everything worked fine with safari and then safari got updated and it stopped working! I suppose I better stop whinging.

NatWest did have some problems with Safari about a year ago so I installed Firefox, but it all seems to be OK with Safari now.
I've been using on-line banking for years now (because of where I work, I can only get to a bank on a Saturday and not all banks are open on a Saturday) and I think it's the best thing since sliced bread!
(Actually, we bake our own bread and slice it with an electric knife!)

I am quite new to online banking, but I am extremely impressed so far with it. My two main accounts are with Barclays and Halifax, and thanks to some new system, the money clears instantaneously My only gripe is the apparent excess security with Barclays and the apparent lack of security with Halifax. The former needs your username, membership number and a verification code from the PIN machine; whereas the latter just needs a username, password and secret question. I feel pretty safe doing online banking on my Mac, and have never had any issues using Safari with either bank. Peter.

Just logged in to Nationwide BS using Safari. My biggest complaint is that my salary hasn't gone in yet!
