Hello iPeople The other day I had to rebuild a machine with vista on it, it was the most painful experience in my life. You hear lots of claims of how rubbish vista is. But it's not until you try and use it that you realise how rubbish it actually is, within 5 minutes of doing a complete clean install of it, the errors started, first of all, I got 'You are not an administrator', then 'A Fatal Error Has Occured', followed by a very friendly 'Your computer failed to start up - Would you like to run system recovery', all these errors happened within 30 minutes of a clean install. We were practically killing ourselves when the install was going, and it displayed messages such as, 'More reliable, faster, and secure' Out of all the machine rebuilds I've ever done, 6 rebuilds, 5 different OSes, this was the worst. No wonder we love our macs so much - just in case any of you were thing of switching I wouldn't Alex

I wonder how Vista system pack 2 will fare?
Or Windows seven as it is sometimes known.

I'm running Windows 7 under VM it's a lot better than Vista but that is not saying too much. I was very impressed with the install speed (27 mins). Early days yet to make an informed opinion on the os yet.

Can I ask the moderators to create a fresh forum for these Dark Side discussions? I get enough of this Winders nonsense in the other place I frequent, and I come here for some light relief only to find discussions about Winblows all over here as well.
It's enough to make me cross.
(Posted only slightly tongue in cheek.)

Indeed, that would be a good idea, the dark side is so depressing

I wish Google would write Windows error messages. That would be fun and useful.

Windows 7 you ask? Very good! Surprisingly its a very good OS, its where Vista should have been before they released it.
