The 24" iMac 2.8 Ghz is currently on sale at Apple Store UK for £1125 The same machine is on the US Store for $1799 which at today's exchange rate is £1253! In other words it is £128 CHEAPER in the UK that the US. When was the last time that happened? Thanks Alistair.

Blimey - a couple of years ago I was collaborating with colleagues in the US. I had a fairly high spec MacPro bought from the UK store. At the time they could almost have doubled the spec in the US store for the same price! You hear the same doom and gloom on the news everyday, you almost become desensitised to it. I didn't realise just how far things have fallen - easier to see when it's in a context you can relate to.

Very interesting. I may be in the market for a new laptop soon and perhaps I should be happy to consider that I'm better off buying it in the UK
