Mine arrived this morning, but I won't be able to install it until tonight. The anticipation is killing me. :-) By the way, it's now a couple of quid off at Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001AMHWP8/Alan.

I ordered my copy of Snow Leopard the day it was available fro pre-order, received & installed it on Saturday 29th, have been using it heavily for the last couple of days watching motorsport online and cutting DVD's at the same time and there is a noticeable improvement in performance, even though I only have a dual core 2.0Mhz processor and 3GB of RAM. In a word - chuffed

I'm chuffed too. The new fast finder is great - in fact, everything feels faster. My favourite new feature is the fact that my non-unibody Macbook Pro's trackpad is now enabled for all the multi-fingered gestures, including the 4-finger gestures.
I've got a feeling that the new context-sensitive Services menu, coupled with the new Automator, will turn out to be one of the most powerful aspects of this upgrade. It'll take time to get my head around it though.
Alan.

Forgot to say earlier. I've upgraded the old white macbook. Hasn't made a huge difference as no graphics processor etc. Finder, Spotlight etc are much snappier however, it's released a lot of hard drive and so worth the money.
I'm waiting for a while for some of the app developers to catch up for my white iMac.
The other (white) iMac runs Vectorworks Fundamentals 2008 which will never be supported in SL. So upgrade to 2009 required which isn't SL compliant till November at the latest so there's no hurry. We've thought about just sticking with Leopard as is but we really need a bigger screen and more grunt it looks like it will just have to be a new iMac purchase.
Now if she's getting a new machine.......what about me? shiny new iMac, come to me my preciousssss

Oh yes. Awesomeness is in the house. With that box ticked in the Energy Saver preferences, my Mac's IP is farmed out to the Airport Extreme when it goes to sleep. When my AppleTV looks for my iTunes library, the Airport wakes up the Mac and gives it it's IP back and my AppleTV can see the entire library. An hour after anyone stops watching anything, it goes back to sleep.

I'd be interested to know if that works for just connecting to shared folders on another mac.
I transfer files around from my mac upstairs, but I set it to sleep reasonably quick as I don't use it that often. If this would wake it up when I try to connect to it, it would save me going upstairs and tapping the keyboard every time...
