As a mobileme subscriber I'm hugely disappointed with the lacklustre performance uploading to iDisk. I'd love to use iDisk more for the large amount of space I get (and a cool email address :-) ) Have anyone worked out a way of getting faster iDisk transfer rates? Until then I've been giving Dropbox a go for several week now and have found it much faster and actually pretty stable even in its beta form. Give it a go and see for yourself at www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTExNDgxOTQ5. This gives you 2.25GB free. I must tell you that the above link will give me additional free space as well as yourself and I thank you in advance if you chose to do so. If you wish to do get Dropbox without using the referral link the visit www.getbdropbox.com instead. And a final tip: if you go through the at least 5 out of the 6 items at 'Getting started' @ www.dropbox.com/gs you get another 256 MB free. Cheers

I already have Dropbox, so you're not getting bonus 250MB off me! I signed up to the iDisk/MobileMe thing, but cancelled before the trial ran out. Dropbox is far faster, and I have more space than iDisk offered (from what I remember). And it's free.

There is no reason not to use both. I like Dropbox for it's super syncing and I use iDisk for my website.

I too use both.
Dropbox is used for work mainly.
iDisk is more personal.

iDisk does give more space, unless you pay for dropbox, and I use this for backup of my photos etc where I'm not changing things regularily and I'm not gushed about speed. I also backup really importance stuff to a second online pay service, Carbonite.
I would use iDisk more if it could be made faster, until then I will keep using Dropbox for it's sheer simplicity and relative speed gains.

I too already use both. iDisk is mainly Mac only (I know there is a Windows utility, but I've never really got it to work simply). Dropbox is great for my wife to share files between her home iMac and her work PC. MobileMe is about much more than just filesharing - I have it mainly for the ease of syncing Address book contacts and iCal diary entries. I also use it to publish a couple of websites - and to control my 8-yr old daughter's email account. iDisk is a useful bonus.

I use Dropbox to sync my passwords from 1Password.

Just to add my two pennorth! - I too use both, but for my passwords use keychain and that is saved and synchronised via MobileMe. I think it is the synch aspect of MobileMe that I find most valuable.

Incidentally, another reason for using both - I've tried to share some files using Dropbox (and Google Docs) and found that colleagues corporate firewalls won't allow them access. iDisk seems to slip below the radar more successfully.
Of course, if you are running a corporate firewall, then this is probably not a selling feature!

I've been using iDisk for years to sync all my working files across different Macs and recently to access them via iPhone and was pretty happy. I've changed over to using DropBox for that though as I don't think that the files in my iDisk were being backed up and accessible by TimeMachine. They are with iDisk however and I'm much happier that I have the iterative backups . So I'm the other way around from WeirdoStomps, DropBox for work (and keychain) and iDisk for personal - but then again I don't have to work much with corporate firewalls!

I haven't used either for backup because my ISP only gives me 2Gb/month, and it's an upgrade to use more.
So how much usage do you guys need? Per month, that is. I'd hate to get involved and then get a nice set of bills from the ISP.

^It depends what you're putting in it. If you're just filling it with Text files and spreadsheets you'll probably not go over.
