Hi,
Has anyone successfully set up the latest Time Capsule (with simultaneous Dual-Band II) and an Airport Express (801.11n) in a wireless bridge configuration so that I can plug a device into the Express's ethernet port to connect to the internet?
I've been able to connect them wirelessly but the ethernet port fails to assign an IP address. Apple appear to have stopped WDS on the latest Time Capsules which isn't helping :-(

Found WDS :-) it involves pressing the Option key when click network type. Still can't get it to work tho lol.

Finally got it working after finding out it only works on 802.11g, but boy does it slow the network! Time for plan B!

I have had problems in the past with making Airport networks work well. One device on it's own seems easy as pie. Two working together not so much. I found mixing g an n networks to be a bad thing generally. As a result I have rather a lot of CAT5 cable now running round my place.

I'd love to run a load of cat 5 (or even 6) cables but having trouble convincing my wife that it can be done neatly.
At the moment my dual band time capsule is performing a sterling role handling all my wired and wireless networking but a potential problem lies in the future and I'll prob and up needing to run wires during the next decorating cycle.

If you're thinking of running wires, I'd advise that you hold off for a few months. There's a new standard (again!) which combines Ethernet and video called "T-Base HD" or something like that. The standard has been agreed by the majors (apart from Apple and Intel, but including Sony and a few others) so that in the end you just need this single cable (which also carries power) to connect up all your devices - HD, sound, vision, Ethernet etc.
It sounds too good to be true, but it should be appearing in hardware by the end of this year, and will probably be the star at next year's CES show in the US.
