I had to smile. I was installing Adobe's Digital Editions and the little pop up window that appears when they're running their installer had the folowing typo - rather than downloading they had downl aoding! If that's their attention to detail maybe Steve is right about them! Oh well, at least we've got clicktoflash for most of the time

I don't understand the hate towards Flash. It works. The only time I've seen a site use HTML5 extensively was one which The Cat linked to a while ago, and every single time I opened it I had to Force Quit Safari. By comparison, Flash-heavy sites work, even though they take up a bit of brainspace and need to load for a bit. From my one experience of a full site using HTML5 to replace what Flash could do didn't work.
But that was only one site.

This wasn't a hating post or meant to be. I was remembering that my only adventure into programming was Sixth year Studies Computing (1986, RM 80186? with 5.25 inch floppy) where I struggled for weeks because of one lousy comma! One!!!! Hence the connection to attention to detail ;o)
I think the issue that Apple has is that Flash crashes Safari - that may very well be an issue with Safari, I'm certainly no expert - i don't know the stats for Firefox or others...

Hmm
I wish that Flash was better than it is. I does work but not that well on the Mac.
Optimised for Windows it may be, optimised for OSX or iOS it certainly is not.
Now I don't know if the alternatives are any better. Maybe not. iPlayer seems to work really well though. Anyone know what technology that is in use there?

I recently did a fresh install and unsuccessfully tried to listen to BBC 6 on firefox - had a message to install flash. Didn't get round to seeing if video needed it too as I promptly installed it! Whilst I don't have anything against flash, it does seem to have a lot of problems on the security side of things.

First thing I did to my MBA was stick Flash on it. Not sure why but YouTube seemed to require it.
