My new MacBook (my first lappy) has a feature that I don't like. When I am watching iPlayer the screen dims after a while and I have to touch the trackpad to make it bright again.
Please can someone tell me how to disable the dimming feature?
Thanks CC
p.s.
btw I hear that 13% of iPlayer traffic is to Macs. Curious as we have only about 3% of sales. I wonder why that should be true? If it is true that is, I must find the link …

Hmm, a shot of caffeine. It looks good to me, thanks Barry. However is there not a simple way to turn the feature off in one of the OS prefs? Seems strange if not. CC

You (sometimes) can if you go into System Preferences > Energy Saver, then drag both the Display and Sleep sliders to "never". This doesn't always seem to work though. Mine sometimes still dims, even with this setting.

To expand on Barry's advice about Enegy Saver settings in System Preferences:
Most Apple laptops with OSX will have two sets of settings within the Energy Saver Pane (one for "Power Adapter", the other for "Battery"). If you want any changed settings to take effect at all times they will need to be changed in both sets of settings.
By default the Energy Saver Pane will usually open to the "Sleep" settings ("put computer to sleep when......." and "put display(s) to sleep when ........" as Barry discusseed). There may be an "Options" settings available to you as well. If so this may include a tick box option titled something similar to "Automatically reduce the brightness of the display before display sleep". If so untick it (by default this option will probably be ticked).
Keep your fingers crossed and this might reduce the need to keep having to touch the trackpad. If it does work (and you want it to stay like this) it may be worth clicking on the padlock icon in the bottom left of the Power Saver Pane to minimise any chance of OSX altering it for you.

I missed that in the options. I wonder if that is why my screen still sometimes dims, even when both sliders are set not to sleep. Do you know of an option to prevent the user from being dim? - I think I need it!
