I have a new iMac (just in case I never mentioned it).
I also have a Macbook both on an Airport network, both running Leopard.
I would like to access the iMac from the Macbook. How do I do this?
So far I have figured that from Finder I use the Go menu and select Network.
When I do this I see the name of the computer that I want to connect to. I click on this and it says "connecting". The only problem is that it never connects. It just times out.
Any suggestions?
Mr Cat

Is there a "Connect as" button on the top right hand side where you can add the username and password from the mac you are trying to connect to?

Hi,
I have since discovered that my connection problems are down so some strange behaviour from my "time capsule" router. I am getting slow speeds and connection drop-offs on my network.
I have been on to Apple and I have tried numerous fixes to date but still no joy. The next thing I have to try is a full reset of my router.
I will report back if I get it fixed

It seems that some users were/are getting drop-offs and other problems when they have several Macs of different types/OSs on the same wireless network. I have now run an ethernet cable to my new machine and the whole system is flying. I am not sure if the bug is now fixed but there you go. Mr Cat

If you want to sync files between iMac and Macbook I would strongly recommend ( if you are not using MobileMe ) the excellent Dropbox app getdropbox.com. For keeping both machines up to date with key important files ( and also allowing access to these files from any other computer via web browser ) it is excellent.
