I saw this and I am going to be in the UK the end of Sep for a week... so I might have to pick one up and bring back to South Africa as they have not launched the 3G here yet

mattiles, I am thinking of that... its the only way I can get the phone to work in SA. Then when I am back in the UK I can get rid of my sim and start to use O2 again.
If I buy a Pay as you go do they do a credit check?

I'm not sure, but I don't think the credit check on the contract iPhone can be very demanding. I mean, I passed it!

Don't forget that it's not currently possible to unlock the 3G models. You could buy one, but it'll only work on O2.
