Hi there,
I hate to say that something was better on Microsoft but... in Outlook you could configure a "Reply To" address for an account. The only way i have figured out how to do this is to manually type (OK, so it autofills) in the Reply To field.... but you have to remember this every single frigging time.
anybody sorted out a solution to this?
Cheers - Beer Bum

I have not used Outlook.
Exactly what did the "Reply To" feature do and when would you use it?

Hi Mr Cat,
When I send email from my business I want people to see my business email address as the reply to address i.e. gregor.findlay@increasingpotential.co.uk
I use mobile me as my IMAP account and my address is gregor.findlay@mac.com so the default reply to address is gregor.findlay@mac.com. I want it to be my business address instead.
Outlook had the feature of assigning a default reply to address for each email account. As I also do work as an associate for other companies I can have up to five different email accounts on the go and have to type in each reply to address for each account otherwise the receiver sees my dotmac email instead... very frustrating as it's such an easy thing to sort..you would think...
I suppose i could use a different email package.... but I do like my mobile me.....
Hey! what's going on? I've gone two days without a drink! Sh*t!!

I'm not quite sure what you mean here, but I have several different email accounts, depending on who I'm working for at a given time.
In Mail, I simply set up the accounts, then change the signature appropriate to my role. I thought this also changed the "reply-to" address - but as all my mail comes into one "bucket" so to speak, I've never checked to be honest.

I'm not quite sure what you mean here, At first it did me, as I never used the feature mentioned. I now notice that if I make a new Email there is a customise fields icon to the top left of the compose window. This gives me an option of a "reply to" field. If I send a message instead of my Email address being the one that works with the other persons reply button the Email address of whoever I type into the "reply to" field is it. What Mr Shandy wants is for this field to be filled in by default rather than having to fill it manually each time. Or at least I think that is what he is asking for. Cat

Mr Cat, you are correct in what am asking for. However, I go to pains to point out that I am not a Shandy drinker! I have consumed some Sapporro with my business lunch Sushi and am now consuming the classic 70's lager - Tuborg..recently rediscovered and being much appreciated. 8 bottles for £5 can't be bad! Cheers BEER Bum (OK, Lager Bum today but it's usually real ale)

I think Googlemail might be what you're looking for. I use Gmail as my IMAP server, not MobileMe. I have mapped the address I want to use as default over imap.gmail.com and changed the default reply address from my Gmail address to the one I want to use. I then point Mail.app to Google and hey presto it works in the way I think you are after. The only disadvantage is that Mail then puts an annoying duplicate list of files/ folders in its sidebar.
