Photography query here,
I'm attempting to shoot a fast sequence using the continuous mode on my camera (Nikon D3) but I really need a flash gun to get the subject properly lit. as I'm shooting in continuous mode, will the flash fire off for every frame the camera captures?
I've never really shot stuff with a flash before - either built-in or otherwise, so I've no idea how well they work.

The answer is a provisional yes, it will fire every time. However there is an restriction. It depends on your flashguns recharge time. If you have a gun with an external battery pack like my old Metz 45 then you can shoot like a strobe. If on the other hand your gun takes 30 seconds to charge up after a firing like my old Canon mini flash then you will get one flash every 30 seconds. I think most modern guns have a "strobe" mode that lets you fire at reduced power several times for an extended period. However the key words here are "reduced power" You may need external mains powered flash units to get the short recharge times for a powerful burst of frames.
