Wait a minute! - just noticed it's 5.40pm - back in a mo' with a drink... That's better - G&T to hand! Now to the problem. Ages ago I deleted the Plaxo folder in my Applications as the Plaxo syncing completely screws up Address Book and you end up with multiple contacts no matter what you do. However, this morning I opened Address Book up and noticed a Plaxo Icon in the very top menu bar next to my TagBot and Time Machine icons This gives me the option to Set Up Plaxo or Quit. I of course quitted. I am confused. To my knowledge I haven't given permission for any new software to be installed. So off I trundle to my Applications folder to see if anything is there..nothing. (takes sip of G&T) Utilities folder...nothing Searches web for ideas ...nothing hrrrm...... Library...nothing! Cache...nothing so, now thoroughly stumped I turn to the Great British Mac Community (Land of Hope and Glory starts playing in the background), that great bastion of British ingenuity and generosity (oh yeah, will make a PayPal donation!) (music gets louder), to help battle the evil that is Plaxo...even more annoying than the Microsoft paperclip...to keep a fellow Mac CLEAN So, any ideas, let me know.....cheers BeerBum

I had a similar thing happen with Intego antivirus.
It kept putting a stupid icon in the menu bar long after I had deleted it. In the end I emailed them and they informed me that the only way to get rid was to run an uninstaller. I am not sure why but sometimes just deleting the application and library files does not cut it.

AFAIK None of the App cleaners work on AV installations. You have to run the uninstaller from the manufacturer. I simply don't trust them. Cat
