Hi all,
My iBook has stopped being able to install .dmg files. It'll unpack them although finder seems to reboot as it does. If you click on the folder created finder just keeps rebooting - it won't open the folder.
I've tried resetting permissions, verifying them and verifying the boot disk. All of which took a far shorter time than I believe is normal (2-3 minutes).
I have a sneaking suspicion it may have happened after I installed classic, but to be honest I'm not sure.
Thanks for having a look at this,
Tim

Hi Cat,
Thank both you and your kind friend for your rapid and accurate solution to my problem. Apologies for not saying it was Tiger I was running.
In this case the com.apple.finder.plist solution didn't solve it, but the Archive and re-install did...brilliantly. Blimy both your friend and the people at apple are clever folk - my entire system back and working in one smooth move.
Thank you again,
Tim
