I have a few quick questions about ATV... Any answers will be appreciated. 1. Can I get the freeview channels anywhere in the country (UK) without getting any new aerials put in? Also does it pick up HD channels such as BBC HD? 2. Is the HD/downloady thing available anywhere with an internet connection, and how fast is it at downloading full HD films? 3. Does it transfer all data (Songs, album art, play count, movies etc.) from my iMac's iTunes so it can be played on the TV? 4. Can I pick what i want on my ATV hard drive from a list of things on my computer? 5. Can it record TV onto the HDD from the freeview channels? I know that these are probably all silly questions, but I can't find detailed answers anywhere, and I thought that if someone who had it could point out it's pros and cons then I might get it... Thanks, Alex.

I have a few quick questions about ATV... Any answers will be appreciated. I am no expert but I will try 1. Can I get the freeview channels anywhere in the country (UK) without getting any new aerials put in? Also does it pick up HD channels such as BBC HD? The TV does not record as it does not have a built in tuner. 2. Is the HD/downloady thing available anywhere with an internet connection, and how fast is it at downloading full HD films? Yes, the download speed depends on you internet speed. Apple claims that with a 6Mbps broadband connection, you should be able to begin watching a standard-def movie in less than 30 seconds and a high-def movie in less than a minute. A 2Mbps connection gets you playback for a standard-def movie in about a minute and a start time for a high-def movie in about two hours. If you have a 768kbps broadband connection you’ll want to plan ahead. Apple suggests a standard-def movie will be ready to play in 1.5 hours and a high-def movie in about eight hours. 3. Does it transfer all data (Songs, album art, play count, movies etc.) from my iMac's iTunes so it can be played on the TV? Unless you sync it the media stays on the serving computers and the data streams. You can sync it if you want to though. 4. Can I pick what i want on my ATV hard drive from a list of things on my computer? Yes 5. Can it record TV onto the HDD from the freeview channels? No it has no tuner built in. There are hacks that allow it to record from the internet though. I know that these are probably all silly questions, but I can't find detailed answers anywhere, and I thought that if someone who had it could point out it's pros and cons then I might get it... Thanks, Alex. There are no silly questions. There is just stuff you know and stuff you don't. Hope some of this helps. Cat
