I think that this may have been answered before but does anyone know how to dim or turn off the white blinking light on a "sleeping" Macbook?

I have come to the same conclusion. The solution seems to be, don't close the lid.

The solution seems to be, don't close the lid. Really? My MacBook Pro still breathes in its sleep when the lid is open. How about a bit of gaffer tape over it?

I have the exact same issue, Mr Cat.
My MacBook basically shares the bed with me and its white strobing light is extremely annoying. In the end, I just leave the lid open half an inch and have told it never to go to sleep. It's not very environmentally friendly having it on 24/7, but I can't sleep with the light on.
I'm thinking about Heather's solution with gaffer tape, maybe with tip-ex to make it white? Hmmm…
Peter.

It's a rather heavy-handed approach, but I have taken my MacBook apart and snipped the cable running to the LED. I can't believe my MacBook still works Peter.

That was my face when my MacBook booted up after being taken apart Peter.
