Hi all.
Not sure if anyone knows of any super magic tricks to solve this one but any ideas would be greatly received.
I have a 12" powerbook 1Ghz model with 1.25GB of Ram.
In the last month or two my superdrive will accept both DVD's and CD's but will no longer burn CD's. TI will however burn DVD's
Is there any real reason for this other than possible ages and general wear and tear?
Any thoughts would be greatly received.
Thanks all.
Samboway!

All I can suggest is trying different CD media as not all blank CDs are the same and your machine may have better luck with a different brand CD. You probably will need the machine to be repaired though

hi samboway, after playing up for 2 months, my drive totally died on my PowerBook (12", G4, 867MHz) late in 2006. It was 3.75 years old. I rang Apple dealer and they said it would be A$250 (£100) just to look at it, and maybe upto $450 (£185) total to repair/replace the drive. I bought a (much better 16x) Sony external drive for $169. seeing as my PowerBook was so old, this drive was way better than fixing old one. And is serving me great! All things going well (ha ha ), I'll be buying a newly released MacBook after the announcement at WWDC next week!! ;D scott. ps- LUV this podcast.

Thanks guys. I figured as much but thought it was worth a shot. Nevermind. I'm now hoping I can use it as an excuse to get a brand new MacBook Pro 17" with HD display. Seeing as it takes 4GB of ram I'll be laughing. Well, I will. My bank account won't!!!
