While it is never possible to say that there won't be a new product, Im scheptical about this one. If this were genuine, Apple's lawyers would have been all over it by now.
But your client needs to understand that his shiny new toy will be obsolete within weeks anyway. Very few people actually need all the power of the latest, top of the range models. Help him to choose what he actually needs, and explain that there will always be something bigger and better coming along soon. Then take the plunge.

I don't want to put him in the situation of having his shiny macbook pro becoming obsolete just after he gets it. I don't think that Apple will withdraw support quite that quickly.

Was it not the case that there were four product releases a year? Q1 Portables Q2 iPods Q3 iPhones Q4 Desktops (Not sure if I have the order right there) Check out the Mac Rumours site for the most up to date speculation. buyersguide.macrumors.com/#MacBook_Pro

I got an email today from Apple saying that there's new Apple store opening on 16th of February in Eldon Square, which is only about 10 miles away from me in the centre of Newcastle. Good times! This means I won't have to go to PC world to get a new iMac!
