Hey everyone,
I had a thought the other day, wouldn't it be cool if you could 'mute' certain applications running on your system... I mean like maybe there's a hacky tool out there that could let you say right click on the application in the dock and simply prevent it from making sound... or maybe it could add this functionality into one of the apps menus (at the top). I would find this infinitely useful and if anyone knows anything about this please tell me...

Most things can be muted anyway... Media players all can, almost all video sites can mute their videos, (YouTube)
What else could this be used for?

well like sometimes i want to mute like adium/flash player or safari... also you could set up keyboard shortcuts or something to mute them - for instance I often have to pause my music (or mute it) but if I'm in last.fm I can't mute it without going to the site and actually getting rid of my radio station (by stopping it)... I know i could mute the system but that's really annoying - it would just speed things up...
