I have an oldish version of Eye TV on my iMac. I am thinking of getting an iPad and wonder if anyone has experience of using the Eye TV app for the iPad so as to watch TV live on the iPad (via WiFi).

I don't have EyeTV, but with just a quick look at the App store I can't see an iPad-specific version yet - only an iPhone version. So I guess it wouldn't look great just yet with the double scale feature.

Thanks from me too. I didn't know about that tvcatchup site. It's now stored as a shortcut App on my iPad.
Alan.

I'm looking forward to the "folders" feature of OS4.0 - it's going to make finding things so much easier. Day 9 with my iPad and still finding lots out, exploring new things. Latest is reading Marvel Comics - nice ;o)

Thanks, this is an excellent service but doesn't quite do what I would like, ie., watch live TV via my aerial and eyeTV. The disadvantage as I see it is that streaming live TV via the internet will eat in to my download allowance quite quickly.
I have now found that if I purchase an upgrade to version 3 for my old EyeTV software (cost €39.95) it will enable me to view from the aerial.
When my iPad arrives I will probably try it (funds permitting!) and will report back.

As promised, this is an update. I now have had my WiFi iPad 2 days and am still excited! I purchased EyeTV version 3 (upgrade) and the Elgato App for the iPad. Now I can stream live TV to the iPad, and very good it is too although it lags about 15/20 seconds behind the TV received live. Eye TV has to be running on the iMac but channels can be switched remotely from the iPad. Initially I had a little trouble setting up the programme guide but now that works fine both on the iMac and the iPad. Thoroughly recommended.
Others may be interested to know about the iPad case I received today from Amazon. I soon realised that a case is essential and found the 'TeckNet iPad Leather Case for Apple iPad, with Stand Feature - Black' on Amazon for £8.98. I think it is excellent, fits perfectly with cut-outs in all the right places and has the useful ability to convert to a stand. I have noticed that today the price has increased to £9.98, but I still think it is a good buy.

Thanks Eddie, that's exactly what I wantd to do - I'm already tapping the BT limit on bandwidth.

Glad the info was useful. Isn't this site handy? I found out about Evernote and Dropbox here and now find both indispensable. I am now trying 1password, that I also heard about here. Long live the Pussy Cat Club!

Am I mistaken? I thought Elgato was for streaming live TV from the air, not down the pipe. American products seem to have no bandwidth cap so they happily stream full movies for free. Not so us Brits, and it looks as if that Elgato software merely picks up TV from the broadband connection.
Sigh. Too expensive for me, I'm afraid.

Hi Ozidog, tv via Eye TV is live via your aerial so no impact on your broadband download limit. My setup is current version of EyeTv installed on my iMac then tv aerial connected to Miglia Tv which is connected via USB to my iMac. So long as you are in a Freeview service area all 60 plus digital channels are now useable on your Mac and so long as EyeTv is running, also on an iPad via WiFi. Channels can be changed on the iPod, picture quality is superb.
