Father in law has a nice new Golf Mk6 with a quite swanky 'media centre' in the dashboard,. It comes with a female USB connect in the arm rest-winner, use the IPod lead and away we go. Or not, 'device not supported' was all the media centre could muster. It didn't even start to charge the IPod. Called the dealer guess how much? £150!!!! i nearly died!
It is touted as being Ipod compatible but i believe it should not cost another £150 to be so. I've placated him by showing him the 'Aux in' line and showing how to use it.
I've walked away from the battlefield and left them to it. Anyone else had this sort of 'obvious compatibility' issue? (Old school Macists had to deal with this as a matter of course back in the day!)

I hate it when stuff like that happens. The iPod is more than likely THE most popular MP3 player/PMP on the market, so having an in-car media centre which can't support iPods out of the box is stupid.

If it say iPod compatible then it should be compatible. Trades description act and all that.

I have a skoda octavia (same thing, different badge) with the skoda badged version of the MDI kit. I have a two cables one for USB and one for iPod, which plug into the media port
I think you need to ensure you have this, available from dealer as part
iPOD cable: Part Number 000 051 446 C (000051446C)
