I have found a really useful App for the iPad (Dictation by Dragon). It fairly accurately translates my speech into text and in fact I am writing this using it now.

Try it with silly accents. Then see if it can understand what the computer's text-to-speech voice says.

I don't get dictation as a method of inputting. Perhaps it's just me, but I like to play around with my words as a way of thinking/ shaping the sentence. I've tried using a dictaphone before, but ended up spending half my life rewinding - or telling my secretary to ignore that last bit. I also can't see it as a viable way of working in the average - open plan/ shared - office. Too much noise already, without adding twenty people all talking to their Macs - or iPads!

I didn't know the iPad even had a built in microphone until I downloaded a virtual didgeridoo.
Am I on my own when I get a bit lost with all the technology built into these devices? Did you know the 3G iPads have built in GPS but not the non-3G ones? Or you can use the Timer in the Clock application to turn iTunes off after so long?
The only computer I know inside out is my lovely Psion 5mx, mainly because they haven't updated it in 10 years!
I suppose the point I'm making is that life is so fast and busy and these devices that Apple make are so wonderful and complex that I feel I'm missing out some what.

Try to think of it as a never ending magical mystery tour. A wonderful surprise around every corner, life getting better and easier with each and every new discovery.
