Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine.

I've recently developed a taste for gin. I blame Joe Bonamassa for that.

I don't know if I mentioned it, but I got a HTC Desire a few weeks ago. It's a pretty good phone, and Android is better than I expected, but it's no iPhone. Not a patch. Still, if it does all you want. I wonder why civil servants are neither civil nor servile?

I have decided I want a MacBook. I'm not bothered if it's Pro or not, I just hate using the crappy Dell-boys in the uni library when the embarrassingly small cluster of iMacs are taken. These Dells are possibly the worst I've ever seen. They can't understand USB memory sticks. Those are pretty important for students.

However finding the cash is the problem.

Excellent decision, I use a Dell Latitude D630 for work and it's a right piece of junk that Blue Screen's regularly!! My advice is to try e-bay, I got an immaculate fully loaded 13" MacBook for a good price. But you have to have patience, it took me 2 months and 30 odd failed attempts, but set yourself a realistic budget and read the description carefully you will not regret it

^Well, that's just it, the money. I need to save every penny I can at the minute because I'm off to Australia next August for a month with my course, which is pretty expensive. If I didn't need to pay for that I could have bought almost everything I wanted using my loan. However, I know being frugal now will pay itself off in lifelong memories. I know I won't wish I had the money back after I've done it. Most likely, a MacBook will be bought when I get my next loan, in September 2011, when I don't have anything to save for.

I watched V for Vendetta today, it was like looking directly into the future of this country. When did the future turn from a promise into a threat?

Juslian Assange is innocent. WikiLeaks is true. It's all a scam. What do you think? Can you see what is happening from my point of view or do you think he's just a troublemaker?

or do you think he's just a troublemaker? He's the fall guy. The "leaks" aren't really leaks at all. They've been passed by The Management, with important info redacted before they're published by newspapers and then on the Wikileaks site. All this bluster from the US is just for show - they're the one's passing the stuff for publication after all. The whole world has gone completely, utterly, stark raving mad. I'm building an Asylum for the world and I live in hope it will get better.

^The US isn't publishing them, the leaks are being put on an external, personal site which has nothing to do with the US government. There are loads of country-specific mirrors hosting the site. And what about companies such as PayPal and Mastercard blocking donations to WikiLeaks? That sounds fishy to me. It is technically a charity.
And what about the videos of US troops purposefully killing innocent civilians and news reporters, while laughing and joking all the way through as if they were playing Call of Duty? That doesn't seem like something the government would like people to see, especially painting their army in that light.

Well, somebody in authority is clearing for publication. I understood it was the US State Department. (Can't immediately locate my source for that nugget, sadly.) Edit: tywkiwdbi.blogspot.com/2010/12/wikileaks-documents-were-vetted-and.htmlSo it seems papers redacted stuff themselves, then passed it to US officials for clearance. Which again begs the question of why the US government then jumps up and down like a scalded thing.

I don't think anyone needs to OK the documents for them to be posted online. As far as I know, all the documents were obtained through hacking and people who have access to files then upload them. I believe that the whole internet is in the hands of hackers. Governments can try to block things but give these people a few days and they will be able to get in to almost anywhere online. However, most of the time the hackers only get these documents for their own amusement, finding info the think is interesting, or they do it for bragging rights.
So what about the other things about Assange? The rape thing seems sketchy, he had more than double the amount of votes as the person behind him as Person of the Year in TIME but he wasn't included.
Say some of the leaks were edited. Do you think that everything the governments of the world do are given to the public? There is some shady business going on, and I think WikiLeaks will help expose it, or at least let the public know what is going on.
Or, more likely we will have heavy internet censorship, communication monitoring and a crackdown on 'cyber-terrorism' or whatever the Daily Mail names it. Of course, it's 'all for our protection.' I understand that you feel differently, but I am fully behind the release of new leaks.

I understand that you feel differently, but I am fully behind the release of new leaks. I'm with you. The more dirty linen that gets washed in public, the better. I find it immensely funny how, in the vain efforts to stamp on Wikileaks in order to hide their activities, the Elites have just exposed themselves even more. ;D Edited to add another link explaining how the "leaks" work: curry.com/?p=2701
