Anyone know anything about them?
I could use one for business but can't justify large annual bills.

As far as I know, they're ways for banks to make even more money out of you.
We did investigate getting a card payment gizmo when I worked at the Bat Cave. It was quite prohibitively expensive for the benefit it gave.
Might I suggest you go and have a chat with your bank's business manager about it?

Dear Cat, Recently I have heard about a new / cheaper way to take credit card payments using a product called 'The Square' that attaches to your iPhone or iPad. Follow the link below; squareup.com/ I am not sure if they have made it available in UK at this time. But am sure they will as their business grows. you could fit it in your cats wallet ! all the best, Jase

My (limited) understanding of the type of plug in adapters like those used by Square is that they only work with the magnetic swipe of a credit card (as opposed to the chip used for chip and pin) - and this is part of the reason for them not being particularly suitable for the UK. .....On a personal level I wouldn't actually be prepared to to hand my credit card to someone who wanted to swipe it through a thing plugged into the headphone / microphone jack of their mobile phone (but then I am a bit of a Luddite!). If your bank has offered to link the cat basket up to credit card technologies then it might be worth having a look at the offerings from WorldPay UK (for example www.worldpay.com/index.php?c=UK and www.streamline.com).
